4.6 USE OF LIFT

PONYBENCH BTPLUS is used as a lift to facilitate sanding
dismantling/ installation operations on automobiles, and
has a pulling arm used for straightening operations.
WARNING! This lift is not suitable for lifting
persons and/or animals.

4.7 RAISING THE PONYBENCH BTPLUS LIFT

WARNING! PONYBENCH BTPLUS must only be
used by authorised, trained personnel. Before
attempting any operations, ensure there are no
people or objects in the work area. Make sure
the vehicle is correctly positioned on the lift
before attempting any operations.
After checking if the safety devices are operating correctly,
you may start using PONYBENCH BTPLUS.
Make sure that the mobile platform is fully lowered, and
that the lifting arms are closed.
• Power up the control unit with the switch on the
distribution board and check if the control console
is connected to the compressed air system, which
should be set to correct pressure (see PAR. CHECKS
BEFORE INSTALLATION).
• Take the vehicle onto the mobile platform of the lift.
• Position the vehicle on the lift so that its weight is
distributed as evenly as possible.
• The doors, if fi tted, must be closed.
• No objects must protrude beyond the profi le of the
vehicle.
WARNING! Removing parts of the vehicle
changes its centre of gravity. This must be
taken into account before positioning the
vehicle on the lift.
• Before using the lift, make sure there are no persons,
objects and/ or animals less than one metre from the
lift and vehicle.
• Turn the mushroom-shaped
clockwise until it is released (1-fi g. 9).
• Press the reset button (2-fi g. 9) on the right of the
mushroom-shaped emergency button (1-fi g. 9). The
yellow indicator light (3-fi g. 9) will come on to indicate
that the equipment is powered.
• Press the <ascent> push-button (5-fi g. 9) and, at the
same time, turn selector switch (11-fi g. 9) clockwise
until the lifting arms come out of the pit. Place the
supplied rubber pads on the arms. Adjust the arms
and pads so that the rubber disks rest on the lifting
points on the lower part of the vehicle body.
• Lift the vehicle about 30 cm off the fl oor and then stop
the movement.
• Thoroughly check the stability of the vehicle, and then
press the <ascent> button (5-fi g. 9) again to continue
to raise the lift to the required height.
When the required height is reached, release the
button: the lift will stop in the required position.
• If the height of the premises where the bench is
installed is insuffi cient, take care not to crush the
vehicle against the ceiling when raising the lift.
After every operation to raise the lift, PONYBENCH
BTPLUS must always be put into a safety position as
follows:

Press the descent push-button (4-fi g. 9) until the
machine comes to a standstill on the fi rst stop of the
anti-fall mechanical safety device.
WARNING! In the event of danger or a
critical situation while using the lift, always
immediately press
emergency stop button.
