SECTION 5
5 SAFETY DEVICES
5.1 SAFETY DEVICES PONYBENCH
BTPLUS is provided with many safety devices for
protecting the operator.
WARNING! Safety devices must under no
circumstances be tampered with or removed.
They must be checked periodically and always
maintained in perfect working order.
The following devices have been installed to ensure the
operator can work safely under all conditions:
•
ANTI-FALL MECHANICAL SAFETY DEVICE
•
EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON
•
SAFETY LOCK VALVE
•
RESET BUTTON
•
THERMAL OVERLOAD CUTOUT
•
AUXILIARY
LOW
ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT
•
SAFETY WARNING SIGNS
5.2 ANTI-FALL MECHANICAL SAFETY DEVICE
It prevents the lift descending in the event of a breakdown
of part of the lift system or when work has to be carried out
on the hydraulic system. It consists of a hook, controlled
by a pneumatic cylinder, which automatically fi ts in stops
provided on the base of the lift. Before working on the
vehicle, the operator must always put the lift in <safe>
condition.
5.3 EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON
Stops any movement instantly when pressed. After being
pressed, the button remains locked in position by the
mechanical self-retaining device.
5.4 SAFETY LOCK VALVE
It prevents the lift descending in the event of breakage
of the delivery fl exible pipe connecting the lifting jacks to
the power unit. The valve is normally open and is located
directly at the end of the jack sleeve ahead of the fi tting of
the fl exible pipe connecting the jack to the hydraulic unit.
It operates automatically when, for any reason, there is a
sudden pressure difference between the valve inlet and
outlet, as caused by sudden breakage of the fl exible pipe.
DANGER! If the safety lock valve is tampered
with, this could cause a serious hazard to
operator safety and to the structural integrity
of PONYBENCH BTPLUS: in this case the
guarantee is automatically voided: SPANESI
S.p.A. declines all responsibility for damage to
persons or property caused by tampering with
the valve.
VOLTAGE
CONTROLS
5.5 RESET BUTTON
Prevents any movement whenever (for any reason
whatever) there is a power failure or the emergency
button has pressed. After the emergency button has been
released, the reset button restores power to the control
unit.
5.6 AUXILIARY LOW VOLTAGE CONTROLS
ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT
Minimises electrical hazards during the use of the
pushbutton panel.
It consists of a safety transformer which lowers the
operating voltage of the auxiliary circuit powering the
control console to 24 V AC.
5.7 THERMAL OVERLOAD CUTOUT
Cuts power to the electric motor terminals in the event
of motor overloading and/or overheating. It consists of a
thermal contactor set to the electrical input value specifi ed
by the motor manufacturer.
5.8 SAFETY WARNING SIGNS
They indicate a danger, prohibition or directions to be
observed to ensure the operator's safety and for correct
operation of PONYBENCHBT.
