3.8.2 DEVICE PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT
The action on the soil of the furrow-opening coulter is determined
by the load of the whole planting unit on the coulter itself
(approximately 35 kg).
Modifiy the load on the coulter with the handle according to the
kind of soil and its preparation (Fig. 25).
The handle acts on a spring which, when put into traction, allows
for the load on the coulter to be lightened:
ORIETTA
- fully released spring = 35 kg;
- compressed spring = 17 kg.
OLIMPIA
- fully released spring = 40 kg;
- compressed spring = 20 kg.
On compact soil the spring must be fully expanded to facilitate
penetration; on sandy soil, on the other hand, the spring should
be loaded to prevent the element from sinking.
3.8.3 OLIMPIA PLANTING UNIT ROW DISTANCE (Fig. 26)
The planting unit OLIMPIA features the same unchanged basic
specifications of the previously developed model ORIETTA (i.e.,
the frame, the gearbox, the drive wheels, etc.), but distinguishes
itself for newly conceived features such as the plating element
fitting two different planting units. The configurations and mobility
of these planting units within every single element allows for
high precision planting of a pair of 4 to 9 cm rows, when the
version without the seed press wheel is fitted, or 7 to 9 cm rows
when the seed press wheel version is fitted.
The distance between the rows must be set by following the
instructions provided below:
1) The reference marks (A, Fig. 26) identify the centre of the
planting element. The holes (B, Fig. 26) are to be used as a
reference for the standard 5 to 7 cm row distances (11 cm for
«W»).
2) Loosen the knobs and remove the casing (C);
3) Loosen the nuts (D, Fig. 26);
4) Move the distributing devices (E) until the required planting
distance between the rows is obtained. Then, tighten the
nuts (D) to secure the devices in position.
5) Align the drive chain in the
3.8.4 DISABLING THE SEEDER
Switch off the tractor and remove the ignition key.
Unthread the pin (A, Fig. 27) and put it into the outside hole (B).
Lift the seed drill using the supplied handle (12, Fig. 18) until the
lever engages it (9, Fig. 18).
