7. CHECKING THE CALIBRATION OF YOUR DEVICE
It is recommended that you check the BP calibration of your Riester ri-medic every two years. To check calibration:
a.) Start with the device powered off. While holding down the Start/Stop button, toggle on the power button. The "CAL" message
is displayed in the pulse rate display to indicate that the system is in the calibration mode. During this mode, the system
pressure displays in the systolic BP display area.
b.) Using a T-connector, connect a calibrated pressure reference and control, such as a manometer and inflation bulb, to the
pressure hose connector of the Riester ri-medic. Contact Riester customer support for details on ordering the calibration
kit which includes a T-connector.
c.) Compare the pressure reference to the Riester ri-medic throughout the pressure range, 0 to 270mmHg. If the difference
between the pressure reference and the Riester ri-medic is no larger than 3mmHg, the Riester ri-medic is calibrated
correctly for operation. If the Riester ri-medic needs calibrating, contact an authorized service center.
d.) Exit the calibration check by pressing the Start/Stop button again. Once the display shows dashes as the systolic BP, you are
now ready to take a measurement.
If the rechargeable battery is disconnected for any reason, the device must be connected to AC mains power via
the power supply before the unit will turn on; this is required even if the battery has been properly reconnected.
The product is in sleep mode when it leaves the factory. It should be activated only by the end user shortly
before first use. Otherwise the rechargeable battery can be damaged by depth discharge.
For activation the device must be plugged in and charged before first use!
