9. PINLOCK
VISOR
®
The Pinlock
visor system utilizes a secondary anti-fog interior
®
visor to create a fog-eliminating double-wall faceshield. This system
eliminates the need for anti-fog coat on the faceshield. The interior
Pinlock visor is separated from and sealed to the faceshield by a seal
of transparent, flexible silicone. The Pinlock visor is fixed in place
by eccentric pins, so it is held against the faceshield under tension
ensuring complete sealing of the silicone. This creates an aircushion
between the faceshield and Pinlock visor which does not allow any
fogging.
COATING
The faceshield has a High Clear anti-scratch coating on both sides,
both sides of the Pinlock
visor have an anti-fog coating.
®
Note:
When not in use, the helmet should never be used to deposit
gloves or any other objects since the scratch-sensitive inner visor
shield could otherwise be damaged.
Note:
When new, the Pinlock
visor has a protective film; this film
®
should not be removed until the helmet is used for the first time.
Note:
The Pinlock
visor may only be used in conjunction with the
®
SCHUBERTH faceshield that has been specially designed for this
purpose. Do not on any account fit the Pinlock
faceshield.
Note:
For cleaning instructions see section I.3. (maintenance and care
– Faceshield and sun visor) of this manual.

Opening the faceshield
To open the faceshield, use your thumb to
push the faceshield up, using one of the
finger tabs situated to the left and right of
the faceshield and move it to the deired
position.
Faceshield ratcheting (including the 'city position')
The faceshield has a ratcheting mechanism that allows it to be put in
7 different open positions. The first open position from fully closed
is referred to as the 'city position' and is held open more securely in
order to get more airflow into the helmet while riding slowly through
a city. (30 mph or less) When opening the faceshield, it may travel
beyond the city position, but it is easy to find again by moving
the faceshield back down. The ratcheting mechanism requires no
additional lubrication. The faceshield can be opened and closed at
any time regardless of the position of the sun visor.
Closing the faceshield
To close the faceshield, grip the finger
tabs at top left and right and press the
faceshield down with a movement of the
hand until it audibly engages into place.
Warning:
Riding without the faceshield or with the faceshield open can
result in injury to the eyes and face through stones, debris,
dust, insects and other flying objects. This may even strongly
limit your vision and / or could cause an accident resulting in
serious personal injury or death. The sun visor, when lowered,
will provide a certain amount of protection from light impact
from stones or insects but cannot protect from all hazards.
