9.1.
STRESS INCONTINENCE (TENS)
1. General:
Programme for improving the strength of the striated pelvic floor muscles by means of
a comfortable TENS current.
2. Indication:
Stress incontinence.
3. Treatment time:
15 minutes.
4. Remarks:
No DC component, the risk for electrochemical damage (chemical burn) is minimal.
5. Programme:
BF.SYM., 150 µs, 35 Hz, contraction rhythm 0/7/0/25, 15 min.
6. Sensation:
Comfortable, but clearly perceptible contraction of the pelvic floor, followed by relaxa-
tion.
7. Intensity level:
Adjust intensity level (during contraction phase) until a smooth, clearly perceptible
contraction of the pelvic floor occurs. The intensity is not further increased during
operation.
9.2.
URGE INCONTINENCE (TENS)
1. General:
Programme for the inhibition of the bladder contraction and/or normalization of the
tone by means of a comfortable TENS current.
2. Indication:
Urge incontinence.
3. Treatment time:
15 minutes.
4. Remarks:
No DC component, the risk for electrochemical damage (chemical burn) is minimal.
5. Programme:
BF.SYM., 100 µs, 5 Hz, 15 min.
6. Sensation:
Comfortable tingling in a low beat frequency.
7. Intensity level:
Adjust the intensity level until clearly perceptible (sensoric stimulation).
9.3.
MIXED INCONTINENCE (TENS)
1. General:
Programme, in which successively pelvic floor muscles are activated and the bladder
contraction is inhibited.
2. Indication:
Mixed incontinence.
3. Treatment time:
20 minutes.
4. Remarks:
No DC component, the risk for electrochemical damage (chemical burn) is minimal.
5. Programme:
BF.SYM., 150 µs, 35 Hz, contraction rhythm 0/7/0/25, 10 min.
BF.SYM., 100 µs, 5 Hz, contraction rhythm 0/7/0/25, 10 min.
6. Sensation:
Clearly perceptible contraction followed by a comfortable tingling sensation.
7. Intensity level:
First adjust the intensity level a clearly perceptible contraction of the pelvic floor oc-
curs (motoric level). The intensity during the second phase should be set at clearly
perceptible (sensoric stimulation).
