10. TRANSVERSAL LESION OF THE SPINAL CORD AND C.V.A.

Programme to improve the trophic of the tissues in the shoulder.
Subluxation (and pain) of the shoulder due to a C.V.A.
90 minutes (the training must be built up from 1,5 to 6 hours a day).
No DC component, the risk for electrochemical damage (chemical burn) is minimal.
BF.SYM., 250 µs, 35 Hz, contraction rhythm 1/10/0/12, 90 min.
Increasing stimulation followed by a long interval.
Adjust intensity level until an elevation in combination with an abduction and extension
of the Humerus occurs.
Programme for the restriction of contractures by means of stimulation of the antago-
nist.
Flexion contracture of the forearm due to a C.V.A.
30 minutes.
No DC component, the risk for electrochemical damage (chemical burn) is minimal.
BF.SYM., 250 µs, 35 Hz, contraction rhythm 1/4/1/0, 30 min.
Short increasing and decreasing stimulation.
Adjust intensity level until a clearly perceptible contraction occurs which must be pain
free.
Programme for tone normalization by means of stimulation of the extensors of the
forearm and hand for function improvement.
Hypertonia in the flexors of the forearm due to a C.V.A.
10 minutes (the training must be built up from 10 to 20 min.).
No DC component, the risk for electrochemical damage (chemical burn) is minimal.
BF.SYM., 250 µs, 15 Hz, contraction rhythm 1/8/1/0, 10 min.
Increasing and decreasing stimulation.
Adjust intensity level until a clearly perceptible contraction occurs which must be pain
free.
