2) Use the control lever to turn the tyre change shaft (1, Fig. O) until the holes (2,
Fig. O) are at the top to facilitate spindle mounting.
3) Position the spindle (3, Fig. O) on the shaft keeping the locking screw (4, Fig.
O) pulled out and lined up with the holes.
4) Push the spindle all the way down on the shaft and hand tighten the locking
screw (4, Fig. O).
5) Move the horizontal carriage to its all outside position (to the right) to make
wheel loading easier.
NB: During wheel loading, the bead breaking roller can be left in its working posi-
tion or, if it gets in the way owing to the large size of the wheel, it can be easily
slipped off and moved to its non-working position (See Fig. P).
6) Hold the wheel in a vertical position and move it up on the horizontal carriage
between the centering rollers (Fig. Q).
NB: Wheels with off-centred wells (not centred in relation to the rim width) should
be clamped with the "drop-centre" towards the outside (the side from which the
tyre will be removed).
7) To facilitate wheel clamping, use the control console (4, Fig. H) to turn the
spindle until the drive pin (1, Fig. J) is at the top.
8) Turn the spindle so that it is as centered as possible to the rim hole.
9) Move the horizontal carriage so as to bring the rim 2-3 cm from the spindle.
10) Regulate the drive pin by hand (1, Fig. J) so that it is lined up with one of the
wheel fixing holes. If necessary, turn the wheel slightly by hand on the rollers.
NB: The combined action of manual rotation and slight up/down movements of the
vertical carriage will enable you to position the drive pin in line with one of the
holes of the wheel and to centre the wheel in relation to the spindle.
11) Move the horizontal carriage left until the rim is in contact with the spindle,
checking the drive pin is inserted in one of the holes.
12) Insert the cone on the shaft and clamp the wheel using the spinner (GVA or
GVA/R).
13) Raise the wheels 3cm from the centering rollers and then, as a safety precau-
tion, ensure that the spinner is correctly clamped to the spindle.
CLAMPING ON THE RIM
To work on wheels without centre holes, or when clamping on the rim flange is
not possible, use optional accessory AUC, which is designed to direct clamp on
to rims with diameters between 20" (min.) and 24.5" (max.) (Fig. K).
1) Fit spindle CF2 on the tyre changer shaft according to instructions 1 - 2 - 3 - 4
described in the previous paragraph.
2) Fit self-centering device AUC in phase with spindle CF2.
Fit the four pins (1 Fig. K) of the self-centering device in the holes on the spindle
and lock them using the relative nuts.
NB: Phasing between the two components is given by red reference marks on both;
