MOUNTING
1) If the rim has been removed from the spindle, put it back on the spindle and
clamp it repeating the steps previously described on the section above on "WHEEL
CLAMPING".
You will have to regulate the position of the vertical carriage again so that the
bead breaking roller is lined up (about 5 mm) with the outside edge of the rim
(See Fig. T).
For rim larger than centring rollers, it is suggested the optional accessory LRB
Large Rim Board.
2) Move the horizontal carriage completely to the outside (right) to facilitate wheel
loading.
NB: During wheel loading, the bead breaking roller can be kept in the working
position or, if the size of the wheel is such that it gets in the way, the roller can be
slipped off and moved to the non-working position (see Fig. P).
3) Move the wheel up to place it between the centering rollers (see Fig. Q).
4) Lubricate the rim and tyre beads generously using a special grease or soap solu-
tion.
5) Move the horizontal carriage towards the inside to bring the inside tyre wall
against the outside edge of the rim.
6) Fix the rim clamp PC (or PL if using alloy rims) at the bottom in the 7 o'clock
position (see Fig. U).
NB: If you have removed the bead breaking roller, refit it in its seating on the
horizontal carriage, to the right of the wheel.
7) Turn the spindle clockwise until the rim clamp is at the top (about 11 o'clock) to
hook it onto the first bead and then position the tyre at right angles to the rim.
8) Move the horizontal carriage towards the inside until the second bead is against
the outside edge of the rim (See Fig. V).
9) Begin to turn the spindle clockwise checking to make sure that the first bead is
seated and adjust, as necessary, the position of the horizontal carriage.
10) When the first bead is completely seated on the rim, move the horizontal car-
riage towards the outside and turn the spindle to bring the rim clamp to the bottom
(at 5 o'clock).
This will give you the space required for removing the rim clamp; remove it.
11) Move the horizontal carriage towards the inside to bring the second bead against
the outside edge of the rim.
Fix the clamp to the rim at the bottom (at 7 o'clock).
12) Move the horizontal carriage towards the left so that the roller is about 2 cm
over the edge of the rim (See Fig. W).
Turn the spindle clockwise until the second bead is fully seated.
When the spindle is turning, check to make sure that the bead "slips into" the
"drop centre".
If it does not, adjust the position of the bead breaking roller and help it with the
bead lifting tool LA.
13) Remove the rim clamp from the rim and lower the vertical carriage until the
tyre rests against the centring rollers.
NB: If, due to the size of the wheel, the bead breaking roller gets in the way, move
