into the Headtop or Facepiece stops or the alarm sounds, vacate the contaminated area immediately and investigate the
cause (please see FAULT FINDING).
Note: The 'in-use' life of the product will vary with frequency and conditions of use. Some extreme conditions may result in
deterioration over a shorter period. The product must be stored and maintained as stated in this User Instruction.
DOFFING
Do not remove the Headtop or Facepiece or turn off the Powered Air Turbo until you have vacated the contaminated
area.
Note: Contaminant may be removed by following the appropriate steps in the CLEANING or DECONTAMINATION
instructions prior to doffing or disassembly of the system
If not cleaning or decontaminating:
1. Remove the Headtop or Facepiece.
2. Switch off the Powered Air Turbo by pressing the power button.
3. Unbuckle the waist belt.
4. Carry out the necessary maintenance for the Powered Air Turbo and recharge the battery.
DECONTAMINATION
In applications where this equipment is exposed to or in contact with a hazardous material, national or local regulations
specific to that material must be followed when decontaminating the equipment before cleaning and maintaining it.
Showering
1.
Do not detach any components.
2.
Stop the Powered Air Turbo by pressing the power button.
3.
Shower whilst keeping the filters facing downwards. Do not spray water into the filters (air channel). Filters must
always be replaced after shower-cleaning.
After showering, during exit procedures and before further cleaning of the Powered Air Turbo:
1.
Disconnect the breathing tube
2.
Seal the Powered Air Turbo outlet
3.
Remove the filters and seal the Powered Air Turbo inlets using the filter port caps provided. Take care during this
operation to prevent materials entering these areas.
CLEANING
Clean with a damp cloth or sponge. Do not use solvents (e.g. acetone, turpentine). Never clean with compressed air or
compressed water. To disinfect use 3M™ 105 wipes.
Never attempt to clean filters by knocking or blowing out accumulated material.
MAINTENANCE
General
The Powered Air Turbo shall be serviced at least once a year by an Authorised Service Centre (authorised by 3M™).
Contact 3M™ to find an Authorised Service Centre.
The Powered Air Turbo must be removed from use and returned to an Authorised Centre if indicated in FAULT FINDING.
Use of unapproved parts or unauthorised modification could result in danger to life or health and can invalidate any
warranty.

Battery Charging
The temperature of the battery to be recharged must be between +10°C and + 30°C.
Recharging should always take place at a room temperature of about +20 °C, in a dry place shielded from dust and direct
sunlight.
Always use the PF-602E-ASB own recharging device.
The recharger performs a battery test at the start of each charging cycle to detect defective batteries (red light blinking).
Optimum performance with new battery packs is achieved only after they have completed three charge cycles (full charge
to complete discharge). Note: A new battery or a battery stored for a longer period or an over-discharged battery may not
function stably, which will terminate the recharging prematurely. Monitor the red signal light (charging in operation) after
