Operation
5.10.2 Application with a gauge arm
• Start a measurement run in Alu2P or Alu3P mode.
• Apply the required weight to the left plane..
• DO NOT apply the weight to the right plane, but
select the "*" key.
The display will now look like (Fig. 5-28) (the weight
position and relative indicators depend on the selected
ALU mode). The "*" is on and the SWM indicator is
fl ashing.
Note:
If the SWM does not fl ash, check that the
unit is in Alu2P or Alu3P mode.
• Select the Enter key to activate SWM mode.
The "*" indicator turns off, a brief beep is emitted and
the SWM indicator remains on continuously. SWM
Mode is now active.
The left display shows the letters "HSP", while the right
display indicates the number of spokes (Fig. 5-29).
The unit determines the positions of the two split
weights on the right plane according to the number of
spokes and the position of at least one of them, which
are taught by the user.
•
Count the wheel spokes and then use the + and -
keys to set the corresponding number.
•
Turn the wheel to bring one spoke (any one) to 12
O'clock.
•
Select Enter.
The display shows the unbalance values again.
The unit calculates the weights to be applied to the right
plane, in two positions behind the spokes.
To apply the weights:
• Slowly turn the wheel by hand to the weight
application position (Fig. 5-29a).
• If there is no automatic brake, operate the brake
pedal to lock the wheel in this position.
• Select Split Weight Mode, SWM.
• Clean the application point before applying the
stick-on weight.
• Take a stick-on weight that corresponds to the
measured unbalance and insert it at the centre of
the gauge on the arm, then remove the protective
strip from the adhesive (Figure 5-24).
Note:
When you extract the gauge arm and
reach the correct position, the unit emits
an acoustic signal and the unbalance
value fl ashes.
