6. MAINTENANCE
Any operation on the electrical machine must be authorised in advance by the safety manager, and be carried
out with the machine stopped, at ambient temperature, and disconnected from the system or from the mains
(including the auxiliary devices, such as the anti-condensation heaters). You will also have to take all the
precautions required to ensure that the machine cannot be accidentally restarted while maintenance
operations are under way. The generator operating environment must be clean and dry. To lock the screws use
the Loctite® 270 threadlocker, making sure that they are no traces of oil/grease (if needed use Loctite® 7063
solvent or an equivalent product).
In case of electrical connections, the Loctite ® must not come into contact with the electrical rest surfaces!
6.1 Inspection and maintenance intervals
The frequency of the inspections may vary according to the case and depends on the importance of the system,
on the environment conditions and on the actual operating conditions.
As a general rule we recommend that you perform a first inspection after about 100 hours of operation (and
anyway within one year): subsequently perform the inspection at least once every year, according to the
annexed table.
During the inspections you shall verify that:
The generator runs regularly, without noises or abnormal vibrations, hinting at a damage to the
bearings. The functional data are correct.
Air can freely flow in.
The power supply cables show no sign of wear and the electrical connections are firmly
tightened. All the fixing bolts are properly tightened.
To perform the above-mentioned inspections you don't need to uncouple or disassemble the generator;
disassembly is required when replacing or cleaning the bearings; on that occasion you shall also verify:
the alignment,
the insulation resistance; the tightening of screws and bolts.
You should also perform some checks on a regular basis.
Checks and operations to
be performed
Abnormal noise
Proper ventilation
Vibrations
Tightness of threaded
parts
Terminal panel
connections (clamps / TA /
TV / RDT)
General cleaning
Comprehensive check of
the generator
Insulation strength
Bearing lubrication
Bearing replacement
Any irregularity or deviation detected during the checks shall be promptly corrected.
