Put the O-Ring into the N side shield seat.
Vertically drive the rotor in (once the bearing(s) has/have cooled down), taking care not to damage the
O-Ring, if the bearing on the
N side doesn't entirely fit into the seat, apply a force to the shaft head until the rotor snaps into place.
For dual-support generators, finish mounting the D side shield on the union before moving the generator
to a horizontal position.
For single support generators, after driving the rotor, fasten the disc to the union using 2 appropriate
clamps, to ensure that the rotor doesn't accidentally slip out when moving the generator to a horizontal
position.
Reinstall the plastic protections on the N side shield.
Perform the disassembly operation sequence in reverse order.
6.5 Full disassembly operations (mechanical and electrical parts)
BEFORE DISASSEMBLING THE GENERATOR FROM THE DRIVE MOTOR, MAKE SURE THAT THE
LATTER CANNOT BE STARTED.
Before disassembling the generator, please refer to the section views. Also check that the lifting means
capacity is appropriate for the weight of the components to be handled.
Also check that all handling safety measures have been taken.
The disassembly and re-assembly operations must be performed by specialised and qualified
personnel; we recommend that you contact a workshop authorised by the Marelli Motori Service.
If deemed necessary, mark the components during disassembly, to be able to later reinstall them in the
proper position.
Uncouple the generator from the drive motor, removing the fastener of the feet, of the union and of the coupling
device (SAE disc/joint). Disconnect the power cable terminals from the terminal panel.
Move the generator away from the motor using the eyebolts located on the generator .
For dual-support generators:
Follow the indications provided in Chapter 6.3 until you have withdrawn the rotor.
Once you have withdrawn the rotor move the generator back to a horizontal position, disconnect the (+) and
(-) white leads running from the regulator to the exciter stator, removing the fastening clamps.
Remove the tie-rods fastening the N side shield and the D side union to the frame.
Disassemble the different components, taking care to remove the O-Ring from its seat in the N side shield.
Take into account that the exciter stator is fixed to the N side shield.
For single-support generators:
Follow the indications provided in Chapter 6.3 until you have withdrawn the rotor.
Once you have withdrawn the rotor move the generator back to a horizontal position, disconnect the (+)
and (-) white leads running from the regulator to the exciter stator, removing the fastening clamps.
Remove the tie-rods fastening the N side shield and the D side union to the frame. Pay attention to the
nuts located on the union.
Disassemble the different components, taking care to remove the O-Ring from its seat in the N side
shield.
Take into account that the exciter stator is fixed to the N side shield.
6.6 Сборка после полной разборки.
The installation of the bearings onto the shaft must be carried out with the utmost care, preferably after heating
the bearings to about 80-90°C.
The O-Ring must always be replaced after every disassembly.
Apply an uniform layer of paste LGAF 3E (BY SKF) on all the outer ring surface using a proper tool
(paintbrush or spatula). An excessive layer thickness could bring to difficulties during bearing mounting
on end shield.
Prepare the N-end shield without the O-Ring and apply an uniform layer of paste LGAF 3E (BY SKF)
on all the bearing arrangement surface. An excessive layer thickness could bring to difficulties during
bearing mounting on end shield.
Put the O-Ring into the N side shield seat.
Before assembling the shields, check for the presence of the 2 guide screws on the bottom side of the
frame.
Assemble the N side shield and the D side union, fastening the tie-rods as described in Chapter 6.7
Connect to the voltage regulator (see wiring diagrams) the (+) and (-) white leads and fasten them with
clamps.
After fastening the tie-rods, turn the generator until it stands firmly upright.
