Press the button (2) again to program the other

The heating start time is programmed if the
program number (7) is displayed and the orange
indicator light is lit permanently.
The brightness of the display cannot be
adjusted.
To delete a selected time
Press the button (2) briefly.
Set
The start time in the display (6) will disappear.
To select a programmed time
Press the button (2) within 10 seconds until the
Set
program number with the required time is displayed.

13 Troubleshooting

If a fault occurs, check the fuses and the plug
connectors to ensure that they are in perfect
condition and secure.
The auxiliary heating system cuts out
automatically (fault cut-out)
Possible cause:
No combustion after start and start repeat, flame
goes out during operation.
Remedy:
Switch off auxiliary heating system and switch it on
again.
The auxiliary heating system fails to start
Possible cause:
No power supply to auxiliary heating system.
Remedy:
Check the power supply to the auxiliary heating
system and earth connection points (see circuit
diagram).
The auxiliary heating system starts briefly and
then cuts out
Possible cause:
Fuel metering pump fails to start, insufficient
voltage.
Remedy:
Check the power supply to the fuel metering pump
(see circuit diagram), replace fuel metering pump if
necessary.
The auxiliary heating system fails to ignite
Possible cause:
Fault in the glow plug or air in the fuel line
Remedy:
Check the power supply to the glow plug, replace
the glow plug if necessary, bleed the fuel line.
Auxiliary heating system cuts out whilst heating
(fault cut-out)
Possible cause:
Auxiliary heating system is overheated due to a
lack of coolant.
Remedy:
Fill up coolant system and bleed it as described in
the repair manual. Eliminate any leaks, reset the
auxiliary heater.
Blower fails to start
Possible cause:
Blower controller or blower defective.
Remedy:
Check the connection points for the blower
controller (see circuit diagram), or check the
function of the blower.
If you have any further problems, you can
troubleshoot with the diagnostic adapter (order No.
64 50 0 004 238) or contact the Webasto hotline
(phone: (01805) 932278, fax: (0395) 5592353).
14 To reset the auxiliary heating
system
If the action described above fails to eliminate the
fault, reset the system as described below. The
fuse holder A18 for the auxiliary heating system is
in the electrics box.

• Take the 20 A fuse (F2) out of the fuse holder
A18 and refit it after waiting for at least
10 seconds.
• After waiting for at least 10 seconds switch on
the auxiliary heater using the time switch (5) or
remote control (2) by pressing the button
(4 or 3).
• After waiting for 3 – 10 seconds, take the 20 A
fuse (F2) out of the fuse holder A18.
• After waiting for at least 30 seconds switch off
the auxiliary heater using the time switch (5) or
remote control (2) by pressing the button
(4 or 1).
• Fit the 20 A fuse (F2) back into the fuse holder
A18.
• After waiting for at least 10 seconds switch on
the auxiliary heater using the time switch (5) or
remote control (2) by pressing the button (4 or 3).

15 To service the auxiliary heater

The auxiliary heater should be checked at a BMW
service centre at regular intervals, at the latest
when the weather starts to turn cold.
Refer to the instructions in the owner's
handbook.
To avoid starting problems caused by using the
auxiliary heating system, you should not use the
auxiliary heating system if you only drive the car for
short distances (< 20 km).
When the auxiliary heating system is not in use, the
heater is to be run for 10 minutes every four weeks
to prevent the auxiliary heating system suffering
from starting difficulties when you next need it.
