ASDF – Adaptive Scroll Driving Firmware
TPS-compact implements a function that safeguards the life of the scroll pump Tip-
seal. The function is described in the diagram below where P is the turbomolecular
pump power.
Inlet gas load is monitored measuring the turbomolecular absorbed power. A power
threshold
the foreline separation electromagnetic valve is closed and integrated scroll pump
is switched off. Since the turbomolecular pump temporarily works without a
backing pump, the power necessary to maintain a stable inlet pressure tends to
increase. When the absorbed power exceeds the threshold power
integrated scroll pump is switched on and the separation electromagnetic valve is
re-opened. So, the ASDF is able to extend the scroll Tip-seal life.
A slight variation in turbomolecular pump inlet pressure can be detected; this
NOTE
variation is a normal response of the TPS-compact to primary pump shutdown.
By disabling this function, the scroll remains in operation as long as the customer
does not switch off the entire system.
By disabling this function, warranty does not cover the short tip seal life.
To disable this function, put a jumper between pins 3-9 and 4-15 on I/O connector
of Turbo controller:
