- If this condition, essential for correct tyre mounting, is not achieved, use the mobile
bead presser to push the bead into the well, applying pressure at about 3 o'clock (see
Fig. P/7).
- Start rotating again until the tyre is completely mounted.
- Remove the clamp and move the mobile bead presser, demounting tool and fixed
bead presser disc out of the working area.
NOTE: When working on large diameter rims (more than 20"), to simplify mounting
of the second bead the bottom bead breaker disc must be placed next to the edge
of the rim (see Fig. P/8).
This prevents the pressure applied above from pushing the bead out of the bottom
of the rim.
N.B.: Necessary when working on large-diameter rims, this procedure can also be
recommended in all cases, even on smaller rims.
MOUNTING THE SECOND BEAD ON WHEELS WITH STEEL RIM
When working on low profile or self-supporting run-flat wheels with steel rim, follow
the procedures described above except for mounting of the second bead.
A change to the procedure is required because some steel rims on the market have very sharp outer edges which might damage the tyre
(in the traction points), especially during insertion of the second bead.
To avoid these risks, proceed as described below:
1- After mounting the first bead, place the tool and bead presser disc as already described earlier, then move the valve to 5 o'clock.
2- Fit the plastic guard (1, Fig. Q/1) at 11 o'clock, just before the mounting tool, so that
its end touches the tool itself.
3- Fit the special plastic guard with clamp (2, Fig. Q/1) at about 2 o'clock.
4- Turn the chuck clockwise.
When the clamp is at about 6 o'clock, if necessary use the mobile bead presser,
placing it at 3 o'clock (see Fig. Q/2) to send the bead into the well.
5- Continue rotation until the tyre is completely mounted.
6- Remove the guards and the clamp.
DANGER !!
Tyre inflation is a hazardous procedure!
