8 . In the case that an optical surface becomes contaminated or
damaged, the surface must be cleaned or the sensor
exchanged, respectively.

Ensuring the protective function, LE 20 Muting
1 . Muting sensors must be arranged such that muting cannot be
triggered unintentionally by personnel (see Fig. 2-1).

a = Opposing sensors must not be capable of simultaneous activation.
s = Adjacent sensors must not be capable of simultaneous activation.
2 . For muting, at least one muting indicator lamp must be installed
to indicate the increased safety risk during the muting phase.
The lamp is essential. The muting function is not possible
without it.
3 . Muting may only be activated during the time when the object
is blocking access to the danger zone.
4 . Muting must be automatic, but must not be dependent on a
single electrical signal.
5 . Muting must not be entirely dependent on software signals.
6 . The muting condition must be cancelled immediately after the
object has passed through, thereby reactivating the safety
device.
7. The entire danger zone must be visible from the position of the
reset and override pushbuttons.
