It is preferable generally to set the time by advancing the hands
in the clockwise direction. The hands can however be moved
backwards provided you end the adjustment by advancing them.
Above all, do not pass the time at which the date changes (between
10pm and 1am) by turning the hands in the anticlockwise direction.
NOTE: If the time is being set in the afternoon, the hour hand (1)
must have completed more than one full revolution since the last
day, month and date change (hands 5, 6 and 7) to ensure that the
date changes at midnight.
Rapid adjustment of the perpetual calendar:
If the watch has been stopped for a few days only, it is easier to pull
out the winding and time-setting crown (I) to position B and advance
the hands by the time elapsed since the watch stopped. This method
conserves the synchronisation of the different displays.
Full adjustment of the perpetual calendar:
If the watch has been stopped for longer you will have to set all
indications one by one, firstly with indications corresponding to the
day before that on which you set the time.
Corrections are carried out by pressing the date corrector pushpiece
(II) using the corrector pen (IV) supplied with the watch. The
perpetual calendar advances by one day each time the corrector
is pressed. It is necessary therefore to press it the same number
of times as the number of days that have elapsed since the watch
stopped, minus one. First, readjust the leap year indicator (8) then
continue pressing to display the current month (6) (or the previous
month if the adjustment is being carried out on the first of the
month) and lastly yesterday's date (7).
14
If the day of the week hand (5) does not point to yesterday's day
of the week, correct it by pressing the day of the week corrector
pushpiece (III) using the corrector pen (IV) supplied with the watch.
Each time the corrector is pressed the day of the week hand (5)
advances by one day.
NOTE: If for any reason your Perpetual Calendar loses its settings
entirely, or if you are unsure of carrying out the adjustments
correctly or fear that you may damage the mechanism, do
not hesitate at any time to approach an authorised Vacheron
Constantin agent or contact Vacheron Constantin in Geneva to
receive assistance and advice.
Finalising the setting:
Pull out the winding and time-setting crown (I) to position B then
advance the hands until the correct date and time indications are
displayed. Then push the winding and time-setting crown (I) back
to position A.
All other indications (equation of time (9), sunrise and sunset times
(10, 11)) are linked to the perpetual calendar indications and do not
require any additional adjustments.

Water-resistance

The water-resistance of the watch has been tested at a pressure
of 3 bar.
