For your safety
Only store fuel in containers approved for that
purpose and never within the proximity of sources of
heat (e.g. furnaces or boilers).
Replace the exhaust, fuel tank or tank cap if
damaged.
Connect trailers or attachment devices carefully.
Driving performance – especially manoeuvrability,
braking capability and tipping behaviour – is affected
by attachment devices, trailers, ballast weights and
the weight of a full grass catcher.
When working with the device
When working with or on the device, wear appro-
priate work clothing (e.g. safety shoes, long trou-
sers, close-fitting clothing, safety glasses and ear
defenders).
Working without ear protection may result in loss of
hearing.
Only operate the device in a technically faultless
state. Never change the engine settings pre-config-
ured in the factory.
Never refuel the device with the engine running or
hot. Only refuel the device outside. Prevent naked
flames, formation of sparks, and do not smoke.
Ensure that people, especially children, and animals
have vacated the work area.
Check the area in which the device is used and
remove all objects that could be caught or thrown
out by the device. This will help to prevent danger to
people and damage to the device.
Do not mow on slopes with an incline greater than
20%. Working on slopes is dangerous as there is a
risk of the device tipping or slipping.
Move off and brake gently when on slopes; keep the
engine engaged and drive downhill slowly. Do not
drive across the face of a slope, but only straight up
and down.
Operate the device in daylight or adequate artificial
lighting only.
The device is not licensed for transporting people.
Do not carry passengers. Never drive with the bon-
net open.
Before carrying out any work on the device
Protect yourself against injury. Before all work on
this device:
- Switch the engine off.
- Remove the ignition key.
- Lock the parking brake
- Wait until all moving parts have come to a stand-
still and the engine has fully cooled.
- Pull the spark plug connector off the engine so
that the engine cannot inadvertently start.
After working with the device
Do not leave the device unattended until you have
turned off the engine, engaged the parking brake
and removed the ignition key.
Safety equipment
Safety equipment is designed for your protection
and must always be in functioning order.
You must never make any modifications to safety
equipment or bypass its functions.
Safety equipment includes:
Deflector flap/cover flap/grass catcher
The deflector flap (Fig. 4a/b or Fig. 25)/cover flap
(Fig. 25)/grass catcher protects against injury
caused by the cutting blade or by objects being
thrown out. The device may only be operated with
the deflector flap/cover flap/grass catcher installed.
Safety locking system
The safety locking system will only allow the engine
to start when
- The driver is sitting on the seat.
- The brake pedal is fully depressed or the parking
brake is in park position.
- The direction-of-travel lever or accelerator pedal is
set to 'N'.
- the cutter deck has been switched off; i.e.: The
PTO switch or PTO lever is in the position '0/Aus/
Off') (PTO = Power Take Off).
The safety locking system switches the engine off as
soon as the operator leaves the seat without engag-
ing the parking brake or switching the cutter deck off
beforehand. The safety locking system prevents tail
ejection units from mowing without attached deflec-
tor/grass catcher (automatic shutdown of the engine
or cutter deck).
In devices without an OCR function or with a deac-
tivated OCR function, the safety locking system
prevents reversing with the cutting mechanism
activated (automatic shutdown of engine or cutting
mechanism).
Before reversing devices with PTO, therefore, switch
the cutter deck off at the PTO switch or PTO lever.
