Sealing plug for leak test
The sealing plug included in the scope of delivery is
required for performing the daily leak test. The sealing
plug has two threads (M12 and M14) and is screwed
onto the connection adapter.

The sealing plug must be tightened to a torque of
between 25 Nm and 30 Nm.

Guard
DHK/UI, CRI Piezo and CRI/CRIN testing can only
be performed with the guard closed. If the guard is
opened during the test, the test is terminated immedi-
ately and must be re-started.

Functional description
The EPS 205 is a compact unit containing all the com-
ponents, such as high-pressure pump for pressure
generation, test oil tank, flowmeter, measurement PCB,
computer PCB and LCD with touch screen, required for
testing CRI/CRIN, CRI Piezo and DHK/UI. Use is made
of a high-pressure pump and a high-pressure rail to
build up the pressure needed for test purposes. The
high-pressure pump is responsible for conveying the
test oil and the high-pressure rail with pressure con-
trol valve regulates the necessary pressure. The DHK/
UI, CRI/CRIN and CRI Piezo are connected by way of a
high-pressure hose and a connection adapter. The CRI/
CRIN and CRI Piezo are additionally actuated by way of
an adapter cable.
CRI/CRIN, CRI Piezo and DHK/UI testing can only be
performed with the guard closed. The safety circuit of
the guard immediately interrupts the test procedure on
opening the guard and reduces the test oil pressure to
<8 MPa.
The built-in two-chamber test oil tank has a capacity of
roughly seven liters. Coarse impurities are collected in
the first chamber. In the second chamber the test oil is
set to the correct test temperature. The EPS 200 sys-
tem software permits checking of the most important
functions such as opening pressure 1 and 2, chatter,
assembly leakage, seat leakage and spray pattern for
DHK/UI. Illumination of the inside of the jet chamber
permits assessment of the DHK/UI spray pattern. When
checking the DHK/UI spray pattern, the internal extrac-
tion controller (Fig.1, item 7) ensures that as little of
the test oil vapor as possible escapes. Leak testing is
performed for CRI/CRIN and CRI Piezo and the injected
fuel quantity and return quantity can be measured at
full load and with no load.
