8.10 Running Applications
(Examples)
8.10.1 Executing the "Toggle Between Weight
Units" Function
The "Toggle between weight units" function enables a
switch between a maximum of four different units. The
selected basic unit is displayed every time the device is
started (see "UNIT", Chapter "7.3.1 "SETUP"/"BALANCE"
Menu", page 17). The units can be set during the
weighing process and the decimal places can be adjust-
ed. The first convertible unit "Unit 1" is a fixed setting and
cannot be changed. If the base unit is carats then the
first convertible unit will be set to grams; otherwise the
first convertible unit will be carats.
Requirements
The "Toggle between weight units" function is activated
(see Chapter "7.3.9 "APPLIC."/"WEIGH" Menu",
page 23).
The weight value must be valid.

Operating Instructions Gold&Carat II Line
Procedure
To switch the displayed weight unit during weighing
t
or before an application: Press the [Toggle between
weight units] button until the desired unit is dis-
played.
The current weight value is displayed in the selected

unit.
8.10.2 Selecting Convertible Units and their
Decimal Places
Procedure

t
button.
Specify the decimal places for the selected unit. To
t
do so, press the [Confirm] button once again.
Select the desired number of display digits. To do so,
t
press the [Confirm] button.
8.10.3 Running the "Density" Application
Use the "Density" application to determine the density
of solid samples using a density set based on the
buoyancy method. The density is determined using Ar-
chimedes' Principle. The upward buoyant force exerted
on a body immersed in a fluid is equal to the weight of
the fluid the body displaces. Positive and negative valu-
es can be stored for weight in air and weight in water.
However, the weight in water must be less than the
weight in air; otherwise, an error message is displayed.
The results can be displayed with 0 to 3 decimal places.
When using 3 decimal places: Using three decimal pla-
ces for density can result in a high measurement error
rate because corrections to the air density and the cal-
culation sets used are not taken into account, for
example.
