Calculation Basis for Density Determination
Density determination using the buoyancy method is
based on the following formula:
ρ =(W
/(W
-W
))* ρ

Requirements
— The Sartorius density determination kit is installed on
the balance and prepared (see the instructions for
the density determination kit):
— For analytical balances YDK03
— For precision balances YDK04
— The sample holder hangs in the frame of the density
determination kit.
Procedure
Press the [Menu] button.
t
In the menu, select the Density application.
t
Exit the menu.
t
To check the accuracy of the density result:
t
Select the desired number of decimal places in
t
the menu under APPLIC./DENSITY/DEC.PLCS.
Exit the menu.
t
The balance starts with the selected "Density" appli-
y
cation.
To display the density of the buoyancy liquid: Press
t
the [Up] button.
To change the density of the buoyancy liquid:
t
Use the buttons to select the desired value.
t
To apply the value: Press the [Confirm] button.
t
The weighing display reads AIR.
y
To start the weighing process in medium air:
t
Press the [Confirm] button.
t
Place the sample on the weighing pan above on the
t
frame of the density determination kit.
The balance measures the weight of the sample and
y
displays this value.
To apply the weight value: Press the [Confirm] but-
t
ton.
The weighing display reads WATER .
y
Remove the sample.
t
To start the weighing process in medium water:
t
Press the [Confirm] button.
t
Remove the sample holder from the density determi-
t
nation kit.
Place the sample in the sample holder.
t
Attach the sample holder together with the sample
t
to the frame of the density determination kit.
CAUTION Ensure that the sample is completely
t
submerged in the buoyancy liquid and that no air
bubbles have formed on the sample.
The balance measures the weight of the sample and
y
displays this value.
To apply the weight value: Press the [Confirm] but-
t
ton.
The density of the buoyancy liquid is shown in the
y
weight display.
To print out the results: Press the [Print] button.
t
The printout is printed.
y
Remove the sample holder together with the sample.
t
Use tweezers to remove the sample from the sample
t
holder and attach the empty sample holder to the
frame of the density determination kit.
To exit the density determination: Press the [Back]
t
button.
The application returns to its original state.

Printing Weighing Result with
ID Marking
The device can be assigned an ID number. The ID num-
ber is exported during GLP-compliant printing.
Requirements
— The identity number is specified (see Chapter "7.3.14
"INPUT" Menu", page 24).
— The GLP-compliant printout is activated (see Chap-
ter "7.3.7 "DATA.OUT."/"PRNT.PAR." Menu",
page 22).
Procedure
Start the printout. To do so, press the [Print] button.
t
The GLP header is printed with the ID marking of the
y
LOT ID set in the menu and the current weight value.
The [GLP] button appears in the operating display.
y
Confirm the [PRINT] button.
t
To exit the GLP printout: Press the [GLP] button.
t
The GLP footer is printed.
