10. Fault Codes (troubleshooting)

This summary covers all fault indications and faults which may be
shown on the LCD panel. Please check the fault code against the
following information so that you can pass this on to the Service
Team.
Summary of the various fault codes in combination with a lead-acid battery:
Display Meaning
E01
Cell voltage is below 1.97 V per cell when battery connected.
Indication disappears after 10 minutes operation.
E02
Cell voltage is below 1.71 V per cell when battery connected.
Indication disappears after 10 minutes operation.
E03
Reduced module power due to elevated temperature.
E04
Charging current is below 90% of the set value for the primary
charging phase. This measurement is made only during the first
5 minutes after contacting the battery
E05
Safety disconnect if
1. Programmed rated capacity has been charged at calibration
point.
2. More than 130% of programmed rated capacity has been
charged by end of charge.
3. Charging time of 16 h has been exceeded.
E06
Air pressure in trak® air system too low for electrolyte circulation.
E07
During the charging process, battery was disconnected without
prior switch-off via STOP button ore a mains voltage failure leads
to cut off.
E08
Forced changeover due to rising charging current during the
U phase.
E09
Charger disconnected because several trak® air faults have
occurred (E06, E16, E26).
E10
A fully charged battery was connected to the charger.
Charging does not commence.
E12
The memory for internal cycling statistics is full.
E16
Leakage in the trak® air system. Air back-pressure in the pump
too low.
E26
Excess pressure in the trak® air system.
E27
The automatic desulphation is active.
E28
Electrolyte level of the connected battery is too low.
Message disappears when connected once more to a battery
to be charged.
E30
Battery temperature exceeded.
For chargers with the LED only option display, all faults are indicated
via the LED power line (flashing light = charger fault, continuous light
= battery/user fault).
Cause / action for rectification
Measure electrolyte density before charging.
Charger may be incorrectly programmed.
Charger may be incorrectly programmed.
Measure electrolyte density before charging.
Clean charger! If the charger is used with a dust filter, this
must be cleaned or replaced. Dust filters are obtainable for
retrofitting.
1. No mains power, or phase missing.
2. Module defective.
3. Charger temperature too high or fan defective or filter
insert requires cleaning.
4. Poor electrical connection.
5. Heavily-sulphated battery. Voltage rise too rapid during
5 min measuring period.
Check battery.
Visual inspection of trak® air hoses
Possible split hose.
Incorrect use of the charger or faulty mains voltage.
Check mains voltage!
Warning: Interrupted charging without trak® air will lead
to battery damage.
Check battery.
Visual inspection of trak® air hoses.
Possible split hose.
Message must be reset through HOPPECKE Service
department.
Charging of a full battery: open-circuit voltage too high
voltage level after charging). Possible layering of the
electrolyte after several interrupted charges. Check
programmed voltage switch-on value in the software.
In order to restart the charger, the memory must be
reset.
Visual inspection of trak® air hoses.
Possible T-piece defect on one or more cells or air flow at
the connector without seal rings (grease latter if necessary).
Visual inspection of trak® air hoses.
Possible bent hose.
A sulphated battery is detected by the charger, please check
the battery according to the manual instructions.
During secondary charging , fill the battery immediately
with demineralised / distilled water, up to the filling mark.
Battery charging has been interrupted automatically since
the maximum permissible temperature was exceeded. Allow
the battery to cool down for a number of hours (approx. 1ºC
per hour), and then resume charging after reconnecting the
plug connector.
