1. The trak® power premium charge product range
The trak® power premium charge product range comprises high-
frequency battery chargers for the automatic, regulated charging of
traction batteries for industrial trucks and electric vehicles. The
range incorporates all standard and optional features that are
needed to assemble a complete charging system. All battery
voltages from 12V to 96V are catered for. Output currents from 5A to
500A may be selected. These chargers have been specially
designed for the following batteries: trak® basic, trak® air, trak® eco
and trak® fnc, trak® LiOn. In addition, using trak® power premium
charge, all competing products may be charged, whether vented or
sealed, after programming by the HOPPECKE Service team.
1.1 Standard features of trak® power premium charge battery
chargers
• 3 different, freely programmable charging characteristics
(IUIa, IuoU, IUoIa)
• Termination characteristic is Ah-balancing and calibration point
• Start-of-charge can be random (3-10 sec) or manually programma-
ble following connection of battery
• Charging status preserved with automatic recovery in the event of
mains power supply failure
• Programmable start-of-charge delay (including weekly timer) for use
of off-peak power
• Programmable automatic equalisation charges
• Internal data storage of 200 charging cycles. Parameters stored in-
clude completed cycles, aborted cycles, Ah, etc..
• Equalising charges programmable automatically or manually;
I charger
• Recognition of charged batteries
• Automatic and manual programs for desulphation
• Progressive start-of-charging for gradual mains loading
• PC interface (direct USB cable connection)
• automatic charging factor changeover when trak® air/trak® eco used
• All trak® power premium charge accessories may be retrofitted
• Intelligent safety overrides for battery faults
• Programmable for any application of the HOPPECKE customer
(setting only by HOPPECKE Customer Services)
• No neutral conductor needed on the mains side.
1.2 Accessories, ready-provided or for ordering as retrofit kits
• trak®
air
battery
system:
trak® power premium charge chargers (for freely program-
mable time-shifted running of the air pump, detection of low
and high pressure and of leaks, fault-finding through pressure
display with service software) (only for lead-acid batteries).
• LCD read-out showing anticipated charging time and state of
charge: visual presentation of individual cells, charging program; vol-
tage; charging current; battery temperature (when accessory
installed).
• Hardware options: automatic water refilling system, remote
control and display, resistance to tropical conditions (high tempe-
rature and atmospheric humidity), dust filter, steel underframe, trans-
ponder for trak® monitor.
• trak® com IP to store and report unique battery identification
data; charging characteristic; battery temperature. With the
trak®com IP , interactive charging is possible and there fore allows
charging at different voltages, capacities and battery types, and ener-
gy rental based on Ah charged.
• Pilot contact wiring to stop charging when the battery plug is
disconnected, thereby providing reliable explosion prevention if the
battery is disconnected before the STOP button is pressed
• trak® com IP, AquaCheck® and separate temperature sensors may
be used to implement interactive charging (only for lead-acid batteries).
• External state of charge display (power LEDs in yellow, green, red).
• Charging cable extension (dimensions as required by customer)
with battery voltage compensation.
• Wall mounting for fixing the charger to a brick/stone wall.

3. Safety Instructions
• The charger should never be used in the rain or stored in a damp
room. The charger must only be used in enclosed areas.
• Risk of Explosion!
Sparking or flames in the immediate vicinity of the battery are to
be avoided. Pulling out the charging plug without stopping charging
via the stop button can produce arcing which may cause an
explosion.
Always wear personal safety equipment.
• Charge batteries only in well ventilated areas. We shall be pleased
to provide you with suitable calculations. Please contact our
Technical Customer Services staff.
• Some charger components, e.g. switches and relays, may
produce sparks. The charger should therefore be set up so that
these sparks do not create a hazard. Minimum distance from the
battery: 1 metre (0.5 metre according to EN 50272-3).
• Never use the charger when it is open. Contact with live parts may
be fatal.
• Under no circumstances should non-chargeable batteries
(primary cells) be charged using this charger.
