(8) Installing position of the needle thread trimming knife

WARNING :
Turn OFF the power before starting the work so as to prevent accidents caused by abrupt start of
the sewing machine.

■ S and R type (long thread trimming)
1) The clearance between needle thread trmmng
knfe J 2 and the needle s approxmately 1 mm.
Loosen setscrew 1 and move needle thread trmng
knfe J 2 to adjust the clearance.
2) Loosen nut 8 , move needle thread trmmng
adjustng base 9 up and down, and adjust
clearance "B" between the needle thread trmmng
knfe J and spreader, rght 7 to 0.1 to 0.2 mm to
obtan the heght of needle thread trmmng knfe J
2 .
When needle thread trimming knife J 2
comes in contact with spreader, right 7 ,
breakage of components will be caused.
3) The ntal poston of needle thread trmmng
knfe J 2 s the poston where t protrudes 3.2
mm from throat plate 4 . Loosen adjustment nut
!1 and adjust the ntal poston wth adjustment
screw !2 .
4) The operatng poston of needle thread trmmng
knfe J 2 s the poston where needle thread
trmmng knfe J 2 comes out by 1.2 to 1.5 mm
from throat plate 4 when needle thread trmmng
actuatng arm !0 s moved counterclockwse
and stopper B !3 of the needle thread trmmng
actuatng arm comes n confact wth the top
surface of the looper bracket.
When the adjustment s necessary, loosen the
stopper B !3 and set the protrudng amount to 1
to 1.2 mm.
Stopper B !3 of the needle thread trimming
actuating arm has double screws.
In case of using Part No. 14050009, refer to
the Engineer's Manual.
■ T type (short thread trimming without gimp)
Perform the adjustment of the aforementoned steps
1) to 4) wth the left looper (eye looper) nstead of
rght spreader 7 .
When the clearance of 1 mm provided
between the top end of needle thread
trimming knife J 2 and the needle (edge
of the left looper) is smaller, the knife cuts
even the looper thread and the looper
thread cannot be retained. When such
phenomenon as this occurs, adjust the
clearance of 1 mm to rather large.
