AIR FILTER CLEANING AND REPLACEMENT
1 - Turn off engine and remove the igniton
key.

The air filter is equipped with a clogging
indicator (A) that gradually switches from
white (clean filter) to red (clogged filter).
When the indicator is red, follow the
procedure below to replace the filter:
2 - Unscrew the fastening screw (B),
disassemble the cyclone pre-filter (C) and
clean it with low pressure compressed air
(lower than 5 bar).
3 - Open the closing hooks (D) and
disassemble the cover (E).
4 - Remove the "main" filter cartridge (F),
and clean it with a low pressure air jet
(lower than 5 bar) aimed outwards.
5 - Check the wear condition of the "main"
filter cartridge (F) and, if necessary,
replace it, or contact the manufacturer of
the vehicle in which the engine is installed
or a workshop authorised by VM MOTORI
FCA ITALY.
6 - Clean the air filter housing (H) with a
clean, lint-free cloth dampened with non-
aggressive detergent.
7 - Replace the filter safety cartridge
(G) if damaged. In any case, replace
the cartridge (G) after 5 (five) cleaning
operations on the main filter cartridge
(F), or contact the manufacturer of the
vehicle in which the engine is installed or a
workshop authorised by VM MOTORI FCA
ITALY.
8 - Refit the main filter cartridge (F), the
cover (E) and the cyclone pre-filter (C).
9 - At the end of the operation, press the
button of the clogging indicator (A) towards
the filter body to reset its colour.

Wear protective goggles and a
dust mask. Never point the jet of
compressed air at people or yourself.
When cleaning the air filter, pay
attention that no solid or liquid
substances enter the engine intake
duct.

If necessary, contact the manufacturer
of the vehicle in which the engine is
installed or a workshop authorised by
VM MOTORI FCA ITALY.
