FUEL FILTER CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT
Follow the procedure below :
IMPORTANT
Carry out the operation with the engine
off. Ignition key removed, wait at least
6 minutes before disconnecting the
negative battery cable.
1 - Carry out the operation with the engine
cold.
2 - Prepare a container under the filter to
collect any leak (fig.2).
3 - Remove the water presence sensor (A
fig.2).
4 - Disassemble the fuel filter cartridge
with suitable standard wrench and replace
it (B fig.2).
5 - Lubricate the seal of the new cartridge
with fuel compliant the specifications on
page 14 before assembling it.
6 - Fit the new fuel filter cartridge (B fig.2).
7 - Fit the water presence sensor (A fig.2).
8 - Bleed air from the fuel supply circuit
(see "Fuel supply circuit bleeding" on page
60).
9 - Turn the engine on and keep it at
minimum rpm for the time necessary to
check for any fuel leaks.
CAUTION - PRECAUTION
Do not come into contact with hot
engine parts and fuel.
Wear gloves and protective clothing
suitables.
CAUTION - PRECAUTION
In case of fuel leaks, stop the
engine immediately and contact the
manufacturer of the vehicle in which
the engine is installed or a workshop
authorised by VM MOTORI FCA ITALY.
