6 Preparation for Use

6.1 Installation in the forearm/upper arm
The 13E500 AxonMaster can be positioned in the forearm socket or in the upper arm socket in the
case of a fitting with elbow joints 12K500 AxonArm Hybrid/12K501 AxonArm Ergo, for example.
The rounded design allows it to be secured in the outer socket or between the outer and inner
socket, depending on space availability. If there is sufficient space between the outer and inner
socket, the 13E500 AxonMaster can be secured using a hook-and-loop closure strap. When little
space is available, the lamination dummy of the 13E500 AxonMaster is laminated into the outer
socket.
6.2 Power supply
Power is supplied to the AxonMaster and the prosthesis components by the 757B500/757B501
AxonEnergy Integral.
7 Handling
7.1 Establishing a connection
Adjustments can be made to the prosthesis components via Bluetooth data transfer and the
560X500 AxonSoft software. For this purpose, a wireless connection must be established
between the 13E500 AxonMaster and the PC with the help of the 60X5 BionicLink PC.
7.2 Selecting a program
For optimum adaptation to the patient, various standard programmes are provided as well as the
option of making refined patient-specific settings. These standard programmes can be selected
using the 560X500 AxonSoft adjustment software and include predefined control options and
switching methods.
Two 13E200/202=* MyoBock Electrodes and/or a cable pull switch can be connected to the
13E500 AxonMaster. The electrode for closing the hand is connected to input 1, the electrode for
opening the hand to input 2. The cable pull switch for a pull cable support, for example, connects
to input 3. The remaining inputs cannot be used at this time and therefore remain closed with cov
er caps.
7.3 Feedback Messages/Operating States
An intelligent battery manager of the 13E500 AxonMaster alerts the user to low voltage conditions
of the battery – the hand will become slower and the gripping force will decrease. Finally, when
there is very little battery capacity remaining, the system will switch off. This protects the battery
against harmful deep discharge.
