Send mode
Measuring values acquired by Quick Reads which are connected to the box can be transmitted
to a PC for further elaboration by pushing the Send button of the box. The values are sent
according to the ascii or binary transmission protocol programmed in the Quick Read
(COM.MODE parameter of the programming menu). The pushbutton box acts in this case as a
transparent unit towards the PC.
The software on the PC to interface the Quick Read protocol is at customer's care.
For the description of the ascii protocol see chapter "ASCII Serial Transmission Protocol" at the
end of this manual; for the QRbin. binary protocol description please contact your nearest
MARPOSS office.
3.12 Serial output RS232
Through the connector 1 (see Figure 1 on page 38) it is possible to transmit data in serial mode.
For this purpose two different protocol types are available in the Quick Read (Standard OPTO-
RS232 and QRbin) for the transmission in ASCII or binary format respectively (variable
COM.MODE).
The former can be sent to a PC, statistical printer, data collector, PLC; the latter to a PC, PLC or
to a BCD interface.
If the ASCII data format is selected for the serial transmission to a PC, the transmission
parameters can be choosen among the following ones:
BAUD = 1200; 2400; 4800; 9600
PARITY = e, 7, 1 / o, 7, 1 / e, 8, 1 / o, 8, 1 / n, 8, 1
STR.END = cr / cr + lf
If the QRbin. data format is selected, the transmission parameters are prefixed (BAUD=9600;
PARITY=e, 8, 1) and cannot be modified.
At page 187 you can find the description of the ASCII protocol.
To receive the description of the binary protocol please contact your nearest MARPOSS office.
CONNECTION OF ONE QUICK READ
It is possible to connect a Quick Read to each serial port available on the PC, statistical printer,
data collector, BCD interface or PLC by means of the E cable code 6739696157 with 9-pins
Cannon connector.
