6.4 Cardio Indication
The Cardiac indication is suitable for adult patients over the age of 14.
Depending on the surgery, the user can choose one of the following modes. For
further details see also chapter 5.8 Setting the Nominal Gas Flow Rate - All Indi-
cations.
• Fieldflooding
• Vessel Harvesting
Alternatively, the user can work with a previously created user profile (see chap-
ter 5.8.3 Profiles).
6.4.1 Fieldflooding
The Cardiac indication is used to replace the ambient air from the surgical site
during open and endoscopic-assisted heart surgery. In this indication, no disten-
tion is carried out.
Pressure is not controlled in Fieldflooding mode. A controlled flow of CO
produced. The max. gas flow rate is 10 l/min.
WARNING!
A gas flow of 10 l/min should not be used longer than up to 30 seconds.
WARNING!
When using accessories not specified in the user manual, make sure the CO
not directly applied to soft tissue focusse.
WARNING!
Fieldflooding
In case of CO flooding of the surgical field (so-called fieldflooding), there is no

guarantee of an CO environment.

Flow during fieldflooding
For CO flooding of the surgical field (so-called fieldflooding, a continuous flow

of 5 l/min for the entire cross-clamp time is recommended.
When using Cardiac indication to push ambient air from the chest, for example,
it is recommended to use a CO
6.4.2 Vessel Harvesting
The Vessel Harvesting procedure is used to distend the cavity along the vena sa-
phena magna and radial artery during an endoscopic vessel harvesting proce-
dure. Carrying out the surgery for vessel harvesting requires the use of a special
instrument.
The Vessel Harvesting procedure is suitable for adult patients over the age of 14.
The maximum nominal pressure can be set to 20 mmHg and the maximum gas
flow to 10 l/min.
