11.3 Installing the Windows Driver

Note: For Windows Vista, see
Use this procedure to install the Abaxis driver that enables the analyzer to communicate with a PC run-
ning the Windows operating system. The analyzer installs on the PC as a virtual communication port in
Windows.
Installation requires the following:
VetScan VS2 Analyzer

PC running Windows, and with a free USB port

Type A/Type B USB cable

Abaxis Driver CD (software files: P/N 110-5001)

Note: Driver installation in Windows requires a user account with administrative privileges.
The screenshots in these instructions are from a typical Windows XP Professional instal-
lation. Some of these screens may vary on your system and in other versions of Windows.
Install the driver as follows.
1. Insert the Abaxis Driver CD into the computer's CD drive.
2. The computer's default web browser then opens, displaying the VS2 driver installation guide
links. Close the browser.
3. Go to
Start > My Computer
play the computer's drives.
4. Right-click the CD drive icon, and
select
Explore
menu.
