6.4.2 Direction of rotation
All machines are equipped with a propeller fan and can therefore operate
in both directions of rotation. The generator is supplied with clockwise
rotation, viewed from the coupling side (unless otherwise specified
on order) to produce a U-V-W phase sequence. If rotation has to be
reversed after delivery ask the Sincro Technical Office for the relevant
wiring diagrams.
6.4.3 Control of voltage and frequency
Control that the voltage and frequency levels required by the electricity
generating set correspond to the generator data plate.
Warning! The generator leaves the production line with a star-series
connection (unless otherwise specified on order) which are used
as reference for its nominal data. In the event of any subsequent
changes the installer must undertake to mark the new connection
used on the machine data plate located inside the terminal box. To
change connection consult the diagrams in the appendix of this
manual.
Warning! All changes in connection must be carried out solely by
a qualified specialist.
6.4.4 AVR board settings
To select the AVR settings access the control board after removing the
cover. Most adjustments are factory set to ensure satisfactory results in
the operating tests on commissioning. Further adjustments may be nec-
essary to ensure optimum operation under specific working conditions.
If the alternator has to operate at 50Hz the jumper across the terminals
marked "60Hz" has to be left in place, if it has to operate at 60Hz this
jumper should be removed.
The output voltage can be changed by adjusting potentiometer "V". Take
the generating set to its nominal speed and turn until the required voltage
is obtained. If a small variation in speed causes a change in voltage,
then the bottom speed protection should first be calibrated. The voltage
reference (orange wires) should be connected:
• at terminals "0" and "115" if using a voltage between 100 and 140V
(factory setting for 12 terminal machines)
• to terminals "0" and "230" for an output voltage between 200 and
280V.
To increase the range of available voltages by about 15% use terminal
"Pa" instead of terminal "0".
Caution: if the voltage is set any higher than its maximum limit the
generator may be damaged.
Setting the bottom speed at 50 (60)Hz: start up rotation of the gener-
ating set adjusting it to obtain a frequency of 46 (56)Hz. Turn trimmer
"UF" until the voltage begins to drop. Restore nominal speed.
Caution: if the bottom speed is set at too low a frequency the gen-
erator may be damaged. On the other hand, too high a frequency
can cause voltage drops with high loads.
Connecting an external potentiometer (5kOhm): remove the jumper
on terminals "EXT POT" and wire the potentiometer to the free terminals,
however make sure that it is set at its maximum resistance. Turn trimmer
"V" anticlockwise to its limit. Take the generating set to its nominal speed
and adjust the potentiometer until the required voltage is obtained.
The generator leaves the production line
with a star-series connection (unless
otherwise specified on order) which are
used as reference for its nominal data.
WARNING!
In the event of any subsequent changes
the installer must undertake to mark the
new connection used on the machine data
plate located inside the terminal box. To
change connection consult the diagrams
in the appendix of this manual.
All changes in connection must be carried
out solely by a qualified specialist.

Caution!
If the voltage is set any higher than its
maximum limit the generator may be
damaged.
Caution!
If the bottom speed is set at too low a fre-
quency the generator may be damaged.
On the other hand, too high a frequency
can cause voltage drops with high loads.
