12.2 Quick Troubleshooting
Problem
The appliance does not start
after the switch has been
moved to the "I" position.
The appliance is on but is
not working. There are no
anomalies signalled on the
keyboard.
The appliance is on but is not
working.
One of the following symbols
appears on the screen:
During operation
whistling noise can be heard
coming from the
handpiece.
The pump rotates properly,
but liquid leaks from the
handpiece when it is stopped.
By pressing the pedal, a
prolonged signal is emitted
and the ULTRASOUND and
POLISHING function
flash.

Possible Cause
The terminal of the electrical
power supply cable has not
been properly inserted in the
rear socket of the appliance
The power supply cable is
faulty
The fuses are out of order
The pedal plug is not
correctly inserted into the
appliance socket
The pedal does not work
properly

depending on the symbol
The insert is not correctly
tightened on the handpiece
a faint
scaler
The irrigation circuit has not
been completely filled
The peristaltic pump is worn.
The pedal has been pressed
with both handpieces stowed
LEDs in their housings.
Solution
Check that power supply
cable is firmly connected
Check that the supply socket
is working.
Replace the power supply
cable
Replace the fuses (See
Chapter 12.3 on page 119
Properly insert the plug of
the pedal in the connector
on the back of the appliance
(see Chapter 4.3 on page
18).
Contact an Authorised
Mectron Service Centre
See Chapter 12.1 on page
112 for the action to be
taken depending on the
symbol
Unscrew the insert and screw
it back in correctly using the
Mectron torque wrench (See
Chapter 5.4 on page 32
Fill the irrigation circuit using
the "flush" function
(See Chapter 5.4 on page
32 )
Replace the peristaltic pump
(See Chapter 9.1 on page
98).
Lift the handpiece to be used
before pressing the pedal.
