Adjust so that the left edge of the small hole O in the thread trimmer connecting rod 6 is aligned with the right edge of
the needle plate O when the sewing machine is stopped. If the small hole and the edge of the needle plate are mis-
aligned as shown in the illustration, upper and lower thread trimming errors may occur.
1. Remove the three screws ©, and then remove the auxiliary needle plate @.
2. Check that the left edge of the small hole @ in the thread trimmer connecting rod 6 is aligned with the right edge
of the needle plate 6.
If they are not aligned, carry out the following adjustment.
3. Remove the rubber plug @ from the bed.
4. Carry out steps 1. to 8. in "9-7. Thread trimmer cam timing".
* If the following procedure is carried out, the adjustment can be made without removing the machine head.
4-1. Turn off the machine power.
4-2. Set the needle bar position to the needle down position. (DSW-4 should be at OFF.)
4-3. Remove the machine belt. (Refer to P. 55)
4-4. Turn the machine pulley by hand so that the tip of the needle moves from the needle up position until the
point where it enters the needle plate hole.
4-5. Turn on the machine power.
Carry out the following step 4-6 as quickly as possible. If more than 3 seconds pass, the thread trimming sole-
noid will switch off automatically and the roller (B of the main lever Q will move out of the groove of the thread
trimming cam.
4-6. Press the treadle forward, and then return it immediately.
Then turn the machine
pulley to move the needle bar to the needle up stop position.
If the thread trimming lever ® moves, the roller ® of the main lever @ will go into the groove of the thread
trimming cam.
4-7. With the treadle still depressed, turn the machine pulley until the thread trimming lever ® is tilting at its clos-
est angle to the needle plate.
The machine is now ready for step 5 to be carried out.
5-1. Turn off the machine power.
Carry out the adjustment in step 6.
6-1. After carrying out the adjustment in step 6., turn the machine pulley by hand to raise the needle bar to the
needle up stop position. The machine is now ready for step 7 to be carried out.
* |f the sewing machine is not in the condition for step 7, the roller ® will come out of the groove during adjust-
ment. If this happens, repeat the adjustment using the adjustment procedure in which the machine head is re-
d
moved.

6. Loosen the screw ®, and then adjust so that there is a gap of 0.5 mm between the end of the movable knife assem-
bly © and the roller ©. After adjusting, tighten the screw ®.
7. When the solenoid lever ® is pushed back, the roller (Y of the knife main lever € wili move out of the groove in the
thread trimmer cam.
At this time, check that the left edge of the small hole @ is aligned with the right edge of the needle plate @, or that
it is closer than it was before the adjustment.
8. Insert the rubber plug © back into the bed.
9. Install the machine head while referring to steps 12 and after in "9-7. Thread trimmer cam timing".
