* Installation of optional parts should only be
carried out by a qualified technician.

trician for any electrical work that may need to
be done.

10-1. Installing the knee switch
A
e Turn off the power switch and disconnect the
power cord before installing any optional parts,
otherwise
the machine
will operate
if the
treadle is pressed by mistake, which could re-
sult in injury.
* Wait at least 5 minutes after turning off the power switch before opening the cover of the control box.
Touching areas where high voltages are present can result in severe injury.
À CAUTION
* Do not clamp the cords inside the contro! box when closing the cover.

The parts shown at left are required for the correct instal-
lation and operation of the optional knee switch.
1. Install the knee switch assembly @ to the work table with
the four screws 6, in a position where the knee switch
will be easy to operate.
2. Open the motor cover and disconnect the solenoid har-
ness Q. (Refer to page 12.)
3. Take the connector cap ® off the connector ©.
4. Insert the pin € of the B cord 6 into hole No. 2 of the
connector 6, and insert the plug @ into the plug © of
the knee switch assembly Qj.
5. Insert the pin ® of the W cord @ into hole No. 5 of the
connector ©.
6. Plug ® is inserted into either contact ® (white) or con-
tact ® (red).
If contact ® (white) is used, the presser foot will remain
lowered when the treadle is pressed to the neutral po-
sition, and will rise when the knee switch is pressed.
If contact ® (red) is used, the presser foot will rise when
the treadle is pressed to the neutral position, and can
be lowered by pressing the knee switch.
7. Attach the connector cap ® to the connector @.
8. Connect the solenoid harness @ to the motor.
9. Close the motor cover. (Refer to page 12.)
NOTE:
When the power switch is turned on, the presser foot
can be operated (raised and lowered) by operating the
treadle.
Furthermore, if the knee switch @ is pressed once, the
presser foot will not move even if the treadle is oper-
ated. Use the knee switch @ to operate the presser foot
in this case.
