8.1.1. Preheating before first use
Before using the appliance for the first time, it must first be preheated when empty for a few
minutes to remove any residues on the appliance left over from the manufacturing process.
` Completely unwind the mains cable (5).
` Place the cooking plate (1) on the appliance base (2).
` Turn the temperature control (3) to MIN.
` Plug the mains plug into the socket.
The operating light on the temperature control (3) lights up green.
` Set the temperature control (3) to heat level MAX.
The operating light on the temperature control (3) lights up red and indicates that the appli-
ance is heating up to the desired heat level. Once this heat level is reached, the operating
light turns green. The heating element automatically switches off when the operating tem-
perature is achieved.
A constant temperature is maintained while the appliance is in use. To do this, the heat-
ing process repeats as necessary, meaning the operating light switches between red and
green.
` Allow the appliance to preheat for approx. 10–15 minutes.
` Turn the temperature control (3) back to MIN.
` Unplug the mains plug.
` Allow the appliance to cool and clean it again.
To clean the cooking plate (1) after using it for the first time, dispose of the first
crêpe you make without eating it.
8.2.
Making crêpes
` Prepare the batter according to the recipe.
` Place the cooking plate (1) on the appliance base (2).
` Grease the cooking plate (1) using a piece of kitchen paper and a little cooking oil.
` Plug the mains plug into the socket.
The operating light on the temperature control (3) lights up green.
` Set the temperature control (3) to the desired heat level
(MIN–4, MAX).
Start by setting a medium temperature until you have found the desired level.
You can also adjust the temperature during operation. The cooking tempera-
ture is reached after approx. 2–3 minutes and the operating light turns green.
` Slowly and carefully use a heat-resistant ladle to pour the batter on to the cooking
plate (1).
