Thank you for choosing a CASCO helmet. Ski and snowboard helmets are personal protective equipment
(PPE category 2: Standard protection against mechanical risks) and help to prevent, or at least signifi-
cantly reduce, the risk of head injuries caused by skiing or snowboarding accidents. Please take time to
read the following information and to adjust your helmet. This is for your safety and maximum comfort.

Ski and snowboard helmet
1. Protection classes under EN 1077
Class A and Class B helmets are for Alpine skiers, snowboarders, and similar groups. Class A
helmets provide relatively greater protection.
Class B helmets let in more air and sound, but protect a smaller area of the head and offer a lower
penetration strength.
The protection class can be taken from the label inside the helmet. The helmet satisfies the
requirements specified in the standard in terms of shock absorption, slipping safety and resilience
of straps and closures.
2. Selecting the right helmet size
A CASCO helmet can only protect you if it fits properly. Measure the circumference of your head at
the widest point and then select the appropriate helmet size. The size (cm) is on the label inside
the CASCO helmet.
The helmet must feel safe and comfortable on the head. Please use the built-in size adjustment
system to further improve the fit.
3. Adjusting the size adjustment system
A good fit is a prerequisite for the best possible protection. That is why your helmet is fitted with
an adjustment option to adjust the head ring to the size of your head (DISK-FIT-VARIO-SYSTEM).
Turning the twist fastener located by the neck left (anti-clockwise) opens and loosens the head
ring. Twisting to the right (clockwise) tightens the head ring continuously (Fig 1).
The Disk-Fit-Vario system can also be height adjusted for an even better fit. This is provided by
either studs inside the helmet or a snapgrid mechanism that can be pulled up and down (Fig 2).
4. The correct helmet position
Always put on your helmet horizontally so that your forehead is protected but your vision is not
impaired. In addition, your helmet should not be positioned on the back of your head (Fig. 3).

5. Firm seat
To test your helmet's seat, shake your head slightly with the chin strap open. The helmet may not
shift position. The helmet must sit properly if it is to offer you its full protective potential.
6. Strap adjustment
Your CASCO helmet comes with a clip-in strap adjusting system. Once adjusted, it can be opened
and closed quickly without readjustment. Once you have adjusted the helmet to your head size,
put on the helmet in its correct position (Fig 3), and snap in the clip (Fig 4)
12
HELMETS WITH 3-POINT STRAPS:
Snap in the clip, and tighten or loosen the chin strap until it rests comfortably under your chin.
The loose end of the strap must be pulled through the rubber O ring.
HELMETS WITH CORD STRAPS:
The cord straps must lie tightly, but still comfortably one finger width under your ears (Fig 5).
Tighten the chin strap by pulling the free ends steadily until you feel it sitting tight.
Now you can adjust the position of the chin strap (Fig 6). To do so, loosen the screw, move the
strap to a comfortable position, and secure it there by tightening the screw.
To open the buckle, press the two pins together (Fig. 4).
7. Check the fit
Before using the helmet, check that it is in the right position, and that the chin strap is tight
enough. Use both hands to try to turn the helmet to the left and right. If the helmet fits correctly,
your skin moves with the helmet on the forehead; if it does not do this, the helmet is too loose. Go
back to point 2. Use both hands to try to pull the helmet to the back and front as far as possible.
Try as hard as you can. That is important. If you can move the helmet in one direction or move it
forward enough that it affects your field of vision or so far back that your forehead is exposed, the
helmet is not fitted properly. Repeat points 5-6 until helmet movement is low.
ATTENTION!
If you can't adjust the helmet so that it can't slide forward or backward with the straps closed,
DO NOT USE THE HELMET! Replace it with a smaller or different model from the CASCO
range.
Do a test cycle.
If the helmet fits properly and the straps are adjusted correctly, do a short test cycle. Note the
wearing comfort and the fit of the helmet while cycling. If necessary, adjust the straps and chin
strap again to improve the comfort and fit.
8. Eye protection
HELMETS WITH MAGNETIC GOGGLE ADAPTER:
Some CASCO ski/snowboard helmet models come with adapters for use with magnetic link
goggles. When not in use, they can be sealed with covers. No restrictions for conventional
goggles with wraparound strap. When using MagnetLink goggles, please first engage them in
one side of the helmet before putting on the MagnetLink goggles. To do so, simply place the
goggles' magnet on the helmet's adapter. They will lock into place independently. Now put on
the helmet. If the helmet sits properly, you can attach the second goggle magnet to the helmet
in the same way.
HELMETS WITH SNOWmask or SPEEDmask:
Some CASCO ski/snowboard helmet models can be fitted with optional CASCO SNOW/SPEED-
masks or delivered with them preinstalled. Before putting on the helmet, you must first push
up the CASCO SNOW/SPEEDmask and secure it in the snap-in mechanism (Fig 7). To replace
the CASCO SNOW/SPEEDmask, first disengage carefully the studs inside the helmet. Now you
can remove the CASCO SNOW/SPEEDmask by pulling the stud through the opening in the side
of the helmet (Fig 8).
9. Interior equipment/accessories
If you have a helmet with change equipment (change pin), please unscrew it carefully for
replacement.
8. CASCO MyStyle stripes
A number of CASCO ski/snowboard helmet models come with CASCO MyStyle stripes. CASCO
MyStyle stripes can be replaced as shown in Fig 9.
