Adjusting the pump output
48
Before commissioning, the pump and module must be at the ambient
temperature.
• Fill and bleed the system correctly.
CAUTION! Damage to the pump!
Running dry will destroy the mechanical seal.
• Make sure that the pump does not run dry.
• To avoid cavitation noise and damage, a minimum inlet pressure must
be guaranteed at the suction port of the pump. This minimum inlet
pressure depends on the operation situation and the duty point of the
pump, and must be defined accordingly.
• The main parameters for defining the minimum inlet pressure are the
NPSH of the pump at its duty point and the vapour pressure of the
fluid.
• Bleed the pumps by releasing the bleed valves (Fig. 12, 13, 14;
Item 1.31). Any dry running would destroy the mechanical seal of the
pump. The differential pressure sensor must not be bled (risk of
destruction).
WARNING! Risk of scalding!
Depending on the temperature of the fluid and the system pres-
sure, when the vent screw is opened completely, hot or gaseous
fluid may escape or shoot out at high pressure.
• Only open the vent screw carefully.
WARNING! Risk of injury!
You could burn yourself if you touch the pump! Depending on the
pump or system operating conditions (fluid temperature), the
entire pump can become very hot.
• Allow it to cool down before working.
• Wear protective gloves.
CAUTION! Damage to the pump!
• Protect the terminal box from any water escaping when bleeding.
The system was designed for a certain duty point (full load point, cal-
culated maximum heating capacity requirement). During commis-
sioning, the pump output (delivery head) is to be set according to the
duty point of the system. The factory setting does not correspond to
the output required for the system. It is determined with the help of
the pump curve diagram for the selected pump type (from catalogue/
data sheet).
