Mechanical faults
Fault
Pump is not running, despite
current supply
Pump is running at reduced
output
Fault lamp flashing
Fault lamp lights up perma-
nently
Pump making noises
No reaction of the differential
pressure sensor and no exter-
nal control possible
Installation and operating instructions SIE...BV/DIE...BV/PBE...BV
Cause
Pump blocked
Cable terminal loose in module
Fuses faulty
Motor faulty
Stop valve on pressure side
throttled
Air in the suction line
Limit for fault shutdown is
almost reached
Motor overheated, temperature
of the fluid is too high
Module overheated, air supply to
the module's dissipator
restricted
No mains supply
Short circuit/earth leakage
Sluggish or blocked motor,
e.g. due to deposits
Motor overloaded
Cavitation due to insufficient
supply pressure
Motor has bearing damage
Sensor line disconnected
Incorrect sensor signal set
If you can't fix the fault, contact a specialist or Salmson after-sales
service.
Remedy
• Disconnect module from power supply and secure it
from being switched back on again
• Unscrew protective grid of fan wheel
• Turn motor on fan wheel
• If necessary, disconnect motor and pump housing,
check impeller for any foreign matter and turn
motor on impeller
• Tighten all terminal screws
• Check fuses; replace faulty fuses
• Ask for after-sales
• Slowly open the stop valve
• Eliminate leakage at flanges
• Bleed pump
• In case of visible leakage, replace the mechanical
seal
• Check mains voltage
• Check fan in the converter (run for a short period
with power supply "On") and provide free air access
• Check fuses, cables and connections
• Check duty point
• Check mains voltage
• Switch off the pump
• Allow the pump to cool down
• Provide unobstructed air access
• Check fan in the converter (run for a short period
with power supply "On")
• Press fault acknowledgement button
• Check fuses
• Check cables/connections
• Press fault acknowledgement button
• Ask for after-sales
• Switch off the pump
• Close check valves
• Allow the pump to cool down
• Further procedure as for "Pump blocked" cause (see
above)
• Open check valves
• Press fault acknowledgement button
• Switch on the pump
• Check duty point
• Increase supply pressure, observe minimum pres-
sure at suction port
• Check slide valve and filter on suction side and
clean if necessary
• Have the pump checked by Salmson after-sales
service or a specialised service centre and repaired
if necessary
• Check sensor line/connections and replace sensor,
if necessary
• Check sensor signal and adjust
