MAINTENANCE
HANDLEBAR AND STEM
STEM - The stem is placed on the steering column and is held tightly by
a screw and a expansive wedge, when pressed, unites with the inner
tube of the fork direction.
When you remove the stem, loosen the screw with the same two or
three turns and then give him an extra blow to loosen the wedge inside.
Before oiling, clean the grease and the dirt, and then apply a thin layer
of grease to the all part, including the wedge, which will be inserted
into the frame. The handlebar height can be adjusted to suit your pref-
erence and convenience. If you remove the stem of the steering column
you will see a mark about 65mm above the bottom with the words "maximum height "or "minimum
insertion".
Never ride a bicycle if the stem is raised in way that you can see the line of maximum height / minimum
insertion. If you over tight the stem bolt or the assembly of the headset, this may result in damage to
the bicycle and / or injury to the cyclist.
When you re-adjust the stem, make sure that the handlebar is properly aligned and tightened, using the
appropriate hexagonal wrench or Allen wrench.
DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN
Check the handlebar safety in the stem and the stem in the fork tube,
place the front wheel between your knees and move the handlebar up
and down and from side to side. The handlebar should not move when
pressure is applied when turning.

HANDLEBAR

The exact position of the handlebar is a matter of personal comfort. For
mountain bikes (MTB), the bar should be in a approximately horizontal
position with the ends pointing backward and slightly upward. In BMX
bikes, the handlebar should remain in an approximately straight posi-
tion, but you can move it slightly back or forward, for your convenience.
In MTB or road bikes, the handlebar is usually tight to the stem by an
Allen screw or a hexagonal screw. In BMX bikes, there may be four
tightening screws.
Keep in mind that if at some point you need to replace the fork of your
bike, you should consult a qualified bicycle technician.
