The heater may not be operated (even with
pre-set time or by radio remote control) in closed
spaces such as garages or workshops without an
exhaust extraction being operated!
The parking heater must be switched off at service
stations and/or fuel installations.
Important notes on installation
Depending on the year of manufacture of the
vehicle, it is possible that additional parts may be
required. This should be checked before
installation (see section 2).
Before disconnecting the battery and when fitting
of the park heating has been concluded, the error
memory should be read off.
In the course of further development it can happen
that connections and pin assignments become
changed. The currently valid testing instructions
should therefore always be used for installation
purposes.
All hose lines and electric cables should be
installed in such a way that there can be no
possibility of them sagging or chafing. Cables that
are too long should be tied back and attached at
appropriate places with cable ties.
Care should be taken to see that clearance is
provided.
All hose clamps should be fitted in such a way that
there can be no possibility of them coming into
contact with or chafing against electric cables.
Deburr drilled holes, remove drilling chips, and
treat with the customary BMW corrosion
protection.
Important notes on operating the park heating
(essential to observe)
To avoid starting problems, we recommend that if
park heating is used regularly, the vehicle is driven
daily for 15 - 20 km so that the vehicle battery gets
sufficiently recharged.
Outside the normal period for use of park heating,
the heater should be operated with cold engine
every 4 weeks for 10 minutes, so that starting
difficulties at the beginning of the heating season
are avoided (see also BMW Owner's Handbook).
If the customer wishes to have a time switch,
an additional parts package will be required which
has to be ordered separately (for part number
see EPC).
