(see fig. 6). The X-ray source will move slightly: in fact, opening the mouth
wide, the patient's condyle moves out of the mandibular cavity and then
forward.
After the movement, the offset indicator on the console display takes on the
shape of an "open joint" (see figure 7b).
At this point, act on the offset buttons to adjust centring of the vertical laser
trace on the condyle head (see figure 10).
Ask the patient to hold the jaw still during exposure.
If you want to return to "closed mouth" mode, simultaneously press and hold
down the two offset buttons for at least 2 seconds (see figure 6).
When the TMJ examination is selected, the machine by default starts in
"closed mouth" mode (see figure 7a).
Carefully follow the "general warnings" at the beginning of section 5.4.
For this group of examinations, both the bite and the chin rest must be
removed (figures 1-2).
Loosen the knob that locks the chin rest support and the bite, and remove
them.

To carry out CEPH projections, hyperion is equipped with a cephalostat with
ear supports and a nose support, which help the patient standing in the
correct position. For very tall or very short patients or in a wheelchair, the
examination may be performed with the patient sitting down.
