9.2. TECHNICAL MAINTENANCE

These instructions describe the maintenance procedures for the digital orthopanoramic system. These instructions apply to all the revisions of said equipment.
In order to ensure the operational safety and functional reliability of the equipment installed, at least once a year an authorized service technician must perform a full inspection of the device.
When taking measurements that require a multimeter, always use a calibrated digital multimeter.
All the following tests will be carried out. Customer should be notified prior to replacing parts.
Step
Check that all labels located
- on the detector/detectors,
1
- at the base of the column,
- on the X-ray tube housing,
are intact, well attached and legible.
Check there are no external damages to the equipment which could that may reduce protection against radiation.
2
Open the outer plastic covers of the generator and check there is no oil leakage from the mono-block; replace it if there
3
are signs of leakage.
Remove the dust accumulated inside the generator casing, using a vacuum cleaner, and reattach the covers.
4
Check the remote emission button cable is not broken or scratched.
5
Power off the unit, disconnect it from the mains power supply and check the condition of the main power supply cable.
6
Replace it in case of damage. Connect it back making sure the safety ground is securely connected.
Check the power switch verifying that the ON/OFF button is working properly and the touch panel display illuminates
7
when the switch is in the ON position.
Check the console functionality: buttons must respond to interrogation.
8
Check proper functioning of X-ray exposure LED and exposure buzzer
9
Check proper functioning of laser traces used for patient positioning
10
Perform a motors movement test running the "Dummy panoramic procedure", making sure the movement on the 3 axis
11
X, Y, R (rotation and translation simultaneously) is smoothly and without any abnormal noise. See figure 1, next page.
In case a Cephalometric arm is install, perform a motor movements test of the cephalometric device using the "Dummy
12
Ceph procedure", making sure the movement on the axis H (translation) is smooth and without any abnormal noise. See
figure 1, next page.
Perform column movements, up and down for its entire movement range, making sure the movement on the axis Z
13
(vertical elevation) is smooth and without any abnormal noise. See figure 2, next page.
Check the emergency button functionality. Emergency button is used to stop X-ray device operation, it's located
14
underneath the control panel.
Verify that exposure is immediately interrupted when X-rays button is released.
15
Check the X-Ray Generator functionality performing a complete trial exam, without patient. Select any panoramic exam
16
and reset the unit. Hold down the emission button throughout the entire exam procedure. Absence of error messages
assures a proper generator functionality.
Check that the emission corresponds to parameter settings using the function called "X-ray emissions test".
17
"Perform a complete calibration of the unit:
18
Column calibration, PAN x-ray alignment, PAN sensor calibration, PAN mechanical alignment, LASER beams
alignment.":
In case of Cephalometric option installed, perform the followings calibration steps: Ceph x-ray alignment, Ceph sensor
19
calibration, Ceph mechanical alignment, Nasion calibration, Ear guide rings alignment.
At the end make a calibration backup
20
The undersigned confirms that he/she has checked the unit for the above criteria and that he/she has handed over the unit in fully functional condition.
All inspection and maintenance work performed by the system owner and/or service engineer must be
recorded in this document and kept near the unit!
