upright in a natural posture and looking straight ahead.
Check that the Frankfurt plane is horizontal.
Carefully close the ear rods in order to place the earpieces in the external
hearing duct of the patient.
Turn the nasion support into vertical position and adjust it vertically in such a
way that its lower end rests on the nasion point of the patient (see figure 3).
Ask the patient to keep still with his/her mouth closed.
Carefully follow the "general warnings" at the beginning of section 5.4.
The bite to be used for this group of examinations is shown in figure 1. A chin
rest support is also available (see figure 2), which can be used if you need to
improve the stability of uncooperative patients or to support toothless
patients.
The only fixed reference is the bite (figure 1), while the chin rest (figure 2),
whose use is optional, can slide vertically to adapt to the height of the chin.
For patient positioning for PAN examinations, follow the instructions provided
in section 5.4.1.
Fig.2
In case the volume reconstruction involves the rear side of the mandible (see
figure 3), the patient must be positioned as shown in figure 5: The horizontal
laser trace must pass through the auditory meatus and the base of the nose
in such a way that it is parallel to the mandibular plane, while the vertical
laser trace must always be positioned on the cusp of the upper canine.
For the reconstruction of front areas or all maxillary sections (see figure 4),
positioning must be as for the standard panoramic examination (figure 6), i.e.
with the horizontal light trace passing through the auditory meatus and the
lower margin of the orbit and the vertical laser trace on the cusp of the upper
canine.
