PC Equipment

All operating software, including databank and user interface, is
housed on the central PC. This one is the standard test equipment
PC, extended by specialities like WLAN (Wireless LAN, a radio
based network) and CAN Bus (cable connection to the plate/lift
controller and to the robots). Running a Multi Language version
of Windows XP Pro Embedded, it is operated by mouse and
keyboard, or with the infrared remote control that comes in the
scope of delivery and that emulates keyboard entries.
A USB connected black box with a Smartcard Reader (identical
to the one used in the WAB series) is being used as software
security system, whereas the unlocking smartcard ‚Robotic' (1
987 009 AS9N) has to be installed on the system. The RS232-
RS485-converter that is also in that box is not used for Robot
Aligners.
For communication with the Plate/Lift controller and the robots,
a CAN-Bus is used that interfaces to the PC using a CAN-USB-
Dongle (1 987 009 UE3N). From there, the CAN-Bus is patched
to the three cables going to both Robots and the Plate/Lift
controller down in the cabinet.

The infrared remote control kit 1 987 009 U37N is always
preinstalled in the robots, and are connected to the PC via PS2
connection. The remote control acts like a keyboard and sends
the necessary keyboard commands. The Aligner Software is
designed to allow most of the operation using the enter-, escape-
and four cursor keys to get through a regular measurement
process.

Electrics

The cabinet is supplied with a three-phase power supply. Inter-
rupted by the isolator switch, the electric supply is distributed to
the various components from the retractable electric compartent
down in the cabinet. From there, the hydraulic pump, the PC
equipment, and the power supply units for robots, Plate/Lift
Controller and the probes are alimented.
Hint: It happens on a regular basis, that after changes on the
building's electrical installation you can hear the hydraulic pump
running when pressing the button, but no hydraulic pressure
being built up. In this case, ask your electrician to swap two of the
three phases, and everything will work fine.
Also in that electric compartment, you can find the contactors and
relays that operate the hydraulic pump and the valves on the
hydraulic block.
In the upper part of the cabinet, next to the printer, you cann find
the control panel for the lift with up / down/ equalize buttons. Next
to it, there is also the switch for the lights on the insides of the lift
runways.
