The yellow sheet diagram in the center gives a rough visualization
of toe, camber, and setback. It works like two slices of sheet metal.
Toe bends it on the front or rear end, camber twists it.
Hint: In case of the Original Mercedes Procedure (only available
with unlocking smartcard 1 987 009 AS3N), there is a static data
sheet shown instead of the dynamic values of the data overview.
At this point, you decide whether you need to do some adjustment
work (continue in section 4.4), or whether you are happy with the
results, and go directly to the documentation functions (continue
in section 4.5).
4.3.2

Skip Steering

If you want to finish after a mere measurement of toe and camber
(and of course the related body values, like setback etc.), you
should at least follow the command screen that brings you to
equal front toe values.
Depending how much you have to steer to reach this position,
there will be either a large white arrow, or you will already have the
fine indicator, with the red traffic light popping up as soon as
you're there. Only then you press ‚skip steering'.
You get to the data overview screen, as described in section
4.3.1. The difference: There will be no caster values being
displayed.

Microsweep inklusive Spreizungsmessung

Remark: Different from pure caster measurement, you have to
insert the brake pedal depressor for a combined caster-KPI-
measurement. KPI is only measured, if it is selected in the setup.
To do so, you have to select Alignment Procedures -> Show KPI
-> yes.

The wheel rotaation angle, urgently needed to calculate KPI, is
measured with a small target taht has to be put on the wheel. It is
planned to have the wheel rotation angel measured without that
target by the probe. With some upgrade coming up at a later time,
this will be made available to all systems.
Directly before the steering process, there will be an image
displayed that asks you to mount the brake pedal depressor
(image in the center). For precision of the KPI measurement, it is
mandatory to have the brake perfectly applied by the depressor.
If there is no longer sufficient hydraulic pressure in the brake
circuit, it may be a good idea to turn the engine on for a moment.
In addition, the first preparation screen (left) advises to mount the
targets on the front wheels before the measurement process
begin, if you want to measure KPI. Concerning the targets, it is not
important to have them fixed in any way to the rim, as it would be
with wheel clamp based systems. As they are only used to
measure wheel rotation, it is sufficient to have them somewhere
in the center of the wheel, that is all. As a consequence, the
targets are only put onto the wheel with three straps. The metal
hooks at the end of the straps is simply attached to the outside
of the tyre.
If the targets are in place, and you have mounted the brake pedal
depressor, click ‚Yes' on the brake pedal depressor information
screen.
One important difference is a white square in the coloured stripes
image, and an error message ‚calibration target not found' in case
you forgot to mount the targets.
The core measurement process is identical to the one described
in 4.3.1. Compared to mere caster measurement, this one re-
cords not only the change in camber, but also in wheel rotation
angle over the steering angle (which is a toe change really). At the
end of the steering process, you will be in the data summary
screen, but in this case, there will be also values for KPI.
4.3.4

TOOT and Maximum Steering Angle

The system is designed in a way to give you normally the shortest
possible procedure with the most commonly used values. That
means normally the procedure with Toe/Camber/Caster, inclu-
ding the Microsweep, as described in 4.3.1. But, with this
procedure, you can not measure TOOT (requires 20° steering) or
Maximum Steering lock-to-lock. If you want to have one or both of
them measured, you have to select this either in the setup or
