Standard Alignment Procedure

Make sure that nothing is in the way of the robots along the lift, and
that the Emergency Stop button is not pressed in. The system is
now switched on with the red/yellow isolator switch on the bottom
of the right side panel of the cabinet. The robots go to their initial
position: First all the way to the front until it hits the peg screw,
then backwards for 30mm. At the same time, you can see inside
the probes how the probe PC is activated and the projectors get
active. All this happens automatically. Please allow a warm-up
time of 15 minutes, during that time, measurement results would
not be stable. Afterwards, the system is ready to use.
By that time, the operating system has finished booting on the PC,
and the aligner software has started automatically. As a result, you
see the start screen of the software, as shown here.
If the lift is not already in its fully set down position, please bring
it there now. If the actual height is below the CE-Stop, it will move
further down with a beeping signal. Please keep the ‚Down'
button depressed, until the beeping stops by itself. Only then you
can be sure that the true zero position is reached on both sides.
In this chapter, the process of measuring the wheel alignment of
a car and doing eventual adjustment work, is shown in the
following five steps:
1.
Vehicle selection from databank
2.
Measurement and runout compensation
3.
Steering for measurement of derived values
4.
Adjustment work
5.
Documentation, print, save
Due to process automation, and the fact that there is only a
minimum of user action required, normally every adjustment will
give you a straight steering wheel rightaway. For further back-
ground information, it is recommended to read the guide ‚Four
Steps to a Straight Steering Wheel'.

Vehicle Selection

Please check that the switch for manual unlocking of the plates
(see photograph) is in the off position, and that all four plates are
securely locked.
On the WAB 02 CCT, the beginning of the process is to hit the
start button on the left bottom of the start screen. All four
turntables/slip plates are automatically unlocked by a pneumatic
system. At this time, the car is not yet on the lift. This helps to have
the plates always back in their centered position.
As soon as you press ‚Continue' on the following screen, all four
plates are being locked, you can tell by the hissing sound of the
compressed air being released from the small locking cylinders.
The vehicle selection screen appears. Here, you may have slight
deviations to the sequence that is descirbed in this chapter,
depending what boriginal manufacturer process is installed /
unlocked by a smartcard. In other parts, like the description of the
setup options, you can find more information about that.
The vehicle databank supplied with the Aligner is divided in two
parts: The 'official' databank with original manufactuer's specs
and procedures. For several car brands, this will require additional
unlocking smartcards, others are always included. Then, there is
the so-called 'commercial' databank.
Normally, it is recommended to preselect the ‚Official Descripti-
on' in the setup, and only to go to the ‚Commercial Description'
in case of a car where the official procedure is not unlocked on the
aligner. This setup option is shown on the right photograph. In that
mode, you will find the brands with unlocked official process
marked with an asterisk (*). It means that not only the official
manufacturer's specs, but also a special process is used.
The left photograph shows preselected ‚Commercial descrip-
tion' and the selection button to change to ‚official descripti-
on' on a one-time-basis. In the photograph on the right side,
you see a system where the unlocking smartcard for the
