Once again briefly prepare the patient for the test. When the patient is ready, press ENTER. You
will now hear the sensor buzzing.
•
The instrument now prompts you to avoid air flow in the spirette™ since it is setting the base-
line. It is advisable to block off the spirette™ on one end in order to ensure that the baseline is
set precisely even if the room is draughty. An audible signal will sound when the baseline has
been set. You will see prompt "Blast out" on the screen.
•
Hand the instrument to the patient. Ask the patient to breathe in deeply, insert the spirette™
correctly into his or her mouth. Now ask the patient to exhale as firmly and as quickly as possi-
ble, and continue exhaling until all air has been exhaled.
•
The flow-volume curve, the measured values for FEV1 and FVC and the variability of these
measured values are displayed after the end of the spirometry maneuver. Confirm this display
with (ENTER).
•
The next display is used to assess the quality of the measurement. In order to be able to assess
the lung function of the patient, it is necessary to achieve a result with acceptable test quality.
The test quality depends on the cooperation of the patient and this, in turn, depends on the
quality of the instructions given by the examiner. Consequently, EasyOne-CS features automatic
quality control with prompts to make it easier for the examiner to give good instructions to the
patient. After each spirometry maneuver, a message is displayed on screen, providing informa-
tion on whether the spirometry maneuver was acceptable and, if it was not, what should be
done better. You can find details in Chapter 9.1.
•
You can now conduct the next test (CONTINUE), view the data of this test (DATA) and cancel the
test (CANCEL) by pressing the arrow keys and (ENTER).
•
At least three acceptable spirometry maneuvers must be performed for a complete spirometry
measurement. Message "Session Complete! Great Job!" is then displayed. A quality grade from
A to F is displayed at the end of the test. It provides information on the overall quality of the
test. Please refer to Chapter 9.1 for further information on the quality grades.
•
If, even after repeated attempts, it is not possible to obtain an adequate number of good ma-
neuvers, you should take a break, depending on how the patient feels or stop measurement.
Even after a break, the measurement is stored and can be printed out under "Print results" in
the main menu. You also have the option of adding tests subsequently. Please also read Chap-
ter 5.3.2 for more on this.
•
You can view the result on screen (DAT) with the arrow keys. In order to print the result, click on
the PRINT button and press (ENTER). Connect the instrument to the PC for this purpose. The re-
port is then printed out.
The following spirometry tests can be conducted with EasyOne-CS: FVC (Expiration), FVL (Inspiration
and Expiration), Pre/Post Tests, SVC test and MVV. A detailed description of the test types can be found
in Chapter 5.4. The procedure for conducting the other test types is equivalent to that for conducting an
FVC test.
