2.3.7 Electrical connections
Dangerous voltage. Backfeed to the mains can cause death, serious injuries and damage to
equipment.
If the generating set uses mains electricity, an automatic changeover switch must be fitted to prevent any
accidental connection between the normal and backup sources of electricity.
Warning
Earthing electrical equipment. Danger of death or serious injury as a result of dangerous voltage. Electrocution is always a
real risk wherever there is a source of electricity. Open the main circuit breakers on all electrical circuits before carrying out any
maintenance operations on the equipment. Configure the installation so that the generating set, the changeover switch and all the
connected circuits and equipment are earthed, in accordance with current laws and standards. Never connect electrical appliances
or cables when standing in water or on wet ground, to avoid increased risk of electrocution.
Backfeed to the mains. Danger of death or serious injury as a result of mains backfeed voltage. Fit a changeover switch to
backup supply equipment to prevent backup supply circuits connecting to other electric power sources. A backfeed to the mains
could cause serious or even fatal injuries to those working on electric lines.
