2.3.8.2. Installation
Use a 12 V battery with minimum capacity of 450 A (CCA). The generating set uses a negative earth with a 12 V electrical circuit.
Connect the battery correctly (positive to positive and negative to negative) to avoid any risk of electric shock or damage to the
battery and battery charger. If necessary, have the battery/batteries installed by a qualified electrician. To connect the battery,
connect the negative lead (-) last.
Never connect the negative lead (-) of the battery to the positive terminal (+) of the starter solenoid. Never short circuit the terminals
to test the condition of the battery.
See figure 2.27 for details of battery electrical connection. Check that the battery is correctly connected and that the battery
terminals are properly tightened.

Note: If the battery is connected the wrong way round, the generating set will not start and there is a risk of damage to the
electronic circuit.
Figure 2.28 indicates the position of the engine starter battery. The battery is easy to connect as it uses standard leads. Apply the
following procedure to install and connect the battery.
Battery installation procedure
1. Ensure that the starter battery is fully charged before use.
2. Clean the battery terminals and/or the adaptors if necessary.
3. Install the adaptors on the terminals as required.
4. Place the battery in its housing.
5. Check that the controller's main switch is set to "OFF".
6. Connect the positive (+) lead to the engine starter battery.
7. Connect the negative (-) lead to the engine starter battery.
Refer to the user manual for the generating set for instructions regarding battery maintenance.
1. To the positive (+) terminal of the starter solenoid.
2. To the earth (-) terminal of the starter solenoid, or
nearby.
